I think I read somewhere that the bear could represent death and the family each facing (and running away from) their own mortality. Is that reasonable or is it projection of an idea which isn't really there?

@collingham @SusanBrad1ey @Gurujuish @WalkerBooksUK I think my version and all the other versions I know seem to be about eg fear, overcoming fear, persistence and a sense of safety (which is something most of us yearn for and some of us have).

(Only time was 1969-73) Third, that I used a BBC library to find that version (or any version, actually) of Bear Hunt. These are all lies.

A ‘mondegreen’ is a misheard song lyric, such as Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Excuse me while I kiss the sky’ sounding like ‘Excuse me while I kiss this guy’.
