@complexsplit @flowroute @Vonage One old school desk phone, one phone number. Ideally replace with something I plug into the LAN (gigabit LAN, 100+Mbps upstream). Need practically zero bells and whistles (no call waiting, voicemail, etc).

With Verizon effectively killing landlines, is there a recommended consumer VoIP service to switch to? I’ve had middling experiences with Ooma and Vonage and am not inclined to use either of them.…

Really I just got lucky. I happened to be a computer nerd right after TCP/IP was invented but before Claude. That was a sweet 25 year run. I got luckier than those boomers you hate. Straight up

This was me 12-20. Learned how to code by changing client variables in Return to Castle Wolfenstein, became a world top 100 player, got sponsored, learned how to build computers, and then started grinding out & selling WoW Gladiator accounts for >$2k ea in 2004 dollars

Putting a desktop computer in our house was a huge mistake, our oldest son has no ability to self moderate or accept limits, and it’s making our lives so much worse. I think it needs to go in the garbage, or just get stashed in the barn indefinitely.

Wasn’t me rage-choring at 7:45pm fixing a leaking sink, literally ripping an old screen door off the house, and pulling down the vines along the hedge row as fast as I can before the sun sets. Was Not Me.

Edward Norton explains why he's concerned about American exceptionalism "I don't want to use too harsh a word but I think if you're lucky enough to travel, you'll see something that I don't think a lot of Americans do" "We have this enduring narrative of American exceptionalism you know like America's cultural superiority" "I don't think people fully grasp the degree to which we're going to ghettoize ourselves in terms of education, in terms of health, and in so many other areas" "You know, we're not anywhere near the top of what other people are experiencing" "If we keep embracing this idea of pride in regression, where is that going to take us?" "It's not going to take us to a place that we're happy about for our kids"

I love that @nvidia did a model shoot for this rack (from blogs.nvidia.com/blog/vera-rubi…) like its some guy's early 2000s bmw that he kitted out. Just out in his buddy with the nice garage place and a random accent light:

Life update for my long lost friends 👋 I started @ThroneScience back in 2023. We’re building towards the smoke detector for colon cancer, and it’s safe to say I’ve found my calling. We have an incredible team, including: the cofounder/CTO of WHOOP, the most-followed GI doc on the internet, and medical advisors who literally author clinical guidelines followed by every doctor in the country. We launched our v1 product in March after ~3 yrs of R&D. It tracks gut health, hydration, and prostate health, automatically. The AI-powered Gut Health Coach we just shipped this week helps you understand *what* causes disruptions to *your* digestion. And we’re making real progress on the smoke detector for colon cancer mission — we’re able to find microscopic blood in the lab roughly 100,000x more sensitive than the naked eye. Both of my maternal grandparents had colon cancer. I have a family history of IBD. I got my first colonoscopy at 15. I cannot imagine more meaningful work. And on the personal side, I’ve been dating an amazing partner for ~2 years. She’s not on X, do I can say this here: I’ve found Mrs. Poop. (I know she’s the one bc she thinks that title is hilarious.) I’m proposing later this year 🤫 Life is good. I hope yours is, too. And I’m excited to hear more from you :)
