What's funny is that the PREQUEL trilogy is where the Dune inspiration shows, not the OT.
But more importantly, I think it shows how little people know about contemporary sci-fi when they attribute inspiration to Dune and not the Foundation series.

Star Wars is inspired by like 0-3% of Dune and would still exist without Dune. If we are powerscaling cultural impact, there is no argument. Darth Vader’s breathing alone mogs any iconography from Dune. Lets be serious

I can't get over the fact that Dune is about an oppressed people fighting for their homeland, waging a jihad to bring down a hegemonic empire by threatening to cut off the flow of their most precious commodity after the empire had assassinated their religious leader's father.
