Not sure if everyone is fully aware of what is facing Andrew Tate right now.
If the US extradite him, he will likely face trial in the UK, facing potentially 20+ years in jail if found guilty. Once he's served his time/been acquitted, he would be transferred to Romania and face similar sentencing there if found guilty.

There is no scenario where he can realistically avoid trials in both the UK and Romania, unless he literally spends the rest of his life on the run.
There's a strong possibility he could spend the rest of his life in jail.

The Economist had 90 minutes with an individual shaping the future of our country and the world.
This interview is a clear example of how trust in legacy media is broken. People want the opportunity to learn more about one another—not more division and polarization.
When given the chance to ask about giving the blind a chance to see, advancing humanity through space travel, or providing the disabled the ability to drive a car, the reporter chose clickbait questions meant to drive engagement rather than understand her subject.
Elon did an excellent job answering her questions and explaining his core values while making her look like a fool.

“Breathing space” …. from January 2027.
People are being hammered right now. Today. This month. And Andy Boredom’s big answer is a bus fare cap in six months time.
What about the millions who don’t use buses? The people with no choice but to drive on roads riddled with potholes, paying record fuel costs, record insurance premiums and eye-watering running costs just to get to work.
This isn’t breathing space. It’s a press release dressed up as a policy.

I’m thinking of Boris Johnson today, for whom zero sympathy was extended in similar circumstances.
I think it was Peter Kyle earlier who said something about Starmer having faced some exceptional circumstances during his tenure and my eyebrows had no further to travel if they were to stay attached to my face… 🤨
Boris Johnson had the misfortune to take office just months before an exceptional, once in a century pandemic struck. This took place under the glare of 24 hour media and social media and Keir Starmer milked the pandemic for all that it was worth in political capital.
I imagine Boris isn’t vengeful person but I hope he’ll allow himself a smile as the holier-than-thou Starmer takes his place as a defenestrated PM who served less time than Boris, the man he worked so hard to bring down.

The attack began near a mosque & ended with 5 people injured. Last night’s midnight bulletin on Radio 4 had the story half way down the running order and this morning’s 9 am bulletin had a 20 second read

The proposed "VPN ban" in the UK is very unlikely to work, because most VPN providers are not in the UK, including free VPN providers, and therefore are not obligated to obey UK law.
Given their line of work they're also unlikely to obey such orders voluntarily.

@archer_rs Agreed , i would suggest that BBC salaries are capped at say £250k , if you want to earn more - fair enough work at another media company, BBC should have another newsreader/presenter ready to step-in. Might be different if the programme ( Strictly /Traitors ) gets sold abroad

Yes, the BBC has to live within its means but if being a public service broadcaster is central to its mission The World Tonight is not the programme to cut. It takes a world view & intelligently & has been a nightly briefing for people like me since I discovered it at university.

Very sad to learn that Radio 4's The World Tonight is to be killed off in the latest round of BBC cuts. It has a long and honourable history as one of the more thoughtful BBC news programmes and I am proud to have been associated with it for more than twenty years.
