I can probably say as many times as I've gone to the theater to see obsession there has always been at least one person who doesn't understand the preface of the movie.
For the first time yesterday I sat in a theater with multiple individuals that went to go see obsession as well and every single person unanimously agreed that bear is the villain.
And I got to be honest that made my heart smile.

in hindsight it's cool that they spammed this moment in marketing as a "whoa she's so crazyyy" hook but in the film, the most shocking part of this scene is right after when nikki outright asks bear if her lie is gonna be a problem for him and he says NO

I'm still really bothered by the part in the movie "Obsession" where Bear tries to be funny by calling her that "nickname," knowing full well it offends her. It's clear he's not the kind of man you can have a relationship with. Nobody (especially women) likes being called a nickname that was used to tease them. That doesn't help you find a partner; it just makes you look like a jerk.
