The only thing we had was to keep our distance from each other. It was tragic but diseases are cruel. Leaders make difficult decisions and thats was Boris did.

The difference between the likes of @ZiaYusufUK and @BorisJohnson is that one is nasty and the other is a gentleman. When Angela Rayner was receiving abuse about her lady garden, let’s say, Boris called her personally to say how sorry he was she was receiving such awful abuse. He didn’t congratulate tge abusers!

Thankfully young children and healthy adults were less affected. Unfortunately people did die, my friend’s brother died. Some people blame Boris for not doing more.

Bradford lies from Reform. Don’t fall for it. Last night Reform UK MPs and activists were trending for throwing a massive tantrum over Bradford Council.  They are screaming about a ‘Tory-Green stitch-up’ but they are hoping you won't look at the actual numbers.  Bradford has 90 council seats. Reform won 29. That means 61 councillors represent people who didn't vote Reform.  Reform has NO majority.  Yet, the other parties actively abstained to allow Reform's Stephen Place to be elected as Council Leader. How can that be a ‘ stitch-up’ that hands you the top job?  In a hung council, committee chairs are distributed proportionally so one minority group can't police themselves.  Reform wanted 100% control of the committees meant to scrutinise their own leader.  This isn't a ‘denial of democracy’ - it's just a basic math lesson proving that 29 out of 90 seats doesn't give you a blank cheque to run the entire show. #MakerfieldByElection #Bradford

NEW: Tories have selected Michael Winstanley as their candidate for the Makerfield by-election. He said: "This by-election is an opportunity to give Makerfield a strong local voice who understands the area and has a proven record of delivering for the area and I am looking forward to the campaign." Another local candidate, Michael was born in, and lives in, the constituency. As an aside, Michael is a very popular man within the party itself. He was President National Convention (a body of all the assoc chairs) in 2024, and is a well known figure in the regional party as well.

I am delighted that Michael Winstanley is standing for the Conservatives in Makerfield, he will make an excellent champion of the area having lived in, worked in and represented the local community for years. I know there have been calls from a minority of people for the Conservatives to stand aside in this fight. That will never happen. The people of Makerfield and Britain deserve the opportunity to vote for a party that is committed to reducing the welfare bill, that champions business and understands the perils of nationalisation, that is open and transparent about who it gets its donations from and doesn't try to hide millions in crypto funding. The only party on the ballot in Makerfield that offers that and a clear plan for our country is the Conservative Party, and anyone who supports those values shouldn't hesitate to vote for Michael Winstanley in Makerfield.
