@WrnrWrites And it's not just the classics. I put one of my features (written in 2019) into one of these and all six AI checkers said it was 100% AI. Not sure whether to be flattered...

@benrwright @g__j @OctopusEnergy If you currently have a functioning oil boiler it definitely doesn't pay to get a heat pump, as long as you have a big enough tank to ride out high prices like those we have at the moment. When the boiler eventually fails, however, it could be worthwhile to swap.

@g__j @OctopusEnergy We are on a heat pump and it’s amazing, but everyone around us is on oil - is there any data that shows how the savings stack up against oil? It must be a no-brained to switch.

Not a study, not a survey - but the actual live data from every @OctopusEnergy Cosy heat pump installed in real homes is now online. And it shows that over 80% of Cosy heat pumps were cheaper to run than a gas boiler over the last year and delivered a COP of 3.7 over the whole year (about 4.3x more efficient than a gas boiler) There’s so much disinformation from fossil fuel lobbyists on heat pumps - and anecdote based on bad installs or out of date tech - but we hear time and time again how much Octopus customer la love their heat pumps. Cosy heat pumps can run as hot as a boiler (70C+), can often be installed with no radiator changes and no new insulation, work with microbore piping, can often retain your old hot water tank if you have one. But so much more - comfort sensors in up to ten rooms, optional remote support and servicing, software updates to literally make your heating better without a visit. Effortlessly working with smart tariffs to save money. British designed, British manufactured and thousands of great British jobs. Helping insulate Brits from the last gas crisis, this gas crisis and more to come. See the data for yourself: octopus.energy/cosy-heat-pump…

I’ll be sad to see Pedro go but looking forward to meeting Eclipse tomorrow. @tesla #18 and counting. Apparently there is a rumour going around that my 20th Tesla will be a free gift. Okay, I made that last bit up.🫣

Home heating oil & LPG consumer complaints dossier update. You've sent 1,000s in, which the MSE campaigns team've been working through. What I want to try & do is - By tonight hopefully, have a 1 page summary of main issues to go to Department for Energy & I'll put here - In a week-ish have a full document with lots of evidenced case studies which we'll send to DoE and CMA and Energy Committee.

Do you use the Lloyds, Bank of Scotland or Halifax apps? People have been messsaging me this morning of being shown other peoples transactions. I want to see how widespread this is. Has it happened to you. If so a) What are you seeing? Which app. b) If it is someone elses transactions does it give any of their details too (name, account number etc)?

@AlanisTweeter Electricity is rarely as low as 6.5p/kWh on Agile Octopus now and hasn't been this winter. Also you need to take into account the flakiness of the grid in many out-of-town areas (including here, less than 1 mile outside town). It's not a good security option compared with oil.

@AlanisTweeter Not true, sadly. Oil is still significantly cheaper than a heat pump, even with our solar and battery, as long as you can time your deliveries. We have been doing the calculations for several years

@fedupfish @MartinSLewis That's simply not true @fedupfish, we've kept doing the calculations for several years and assuming you have a large oil tank (ours is enough for a year's oil) and can time your oil purchase, oil is significantly cheaper - by a very wide margin.

@MartinSLewis In most cases a heat pump would provide cheaper heating for most houses than oil and be better for the environment than oil . If we supplement oil users, what message are we sending?

@MartinSLewis Same with LPG. In-laws (both nearly 90) live in a gas-free village and were forced by Calor to swap out their bulk tank for two freestanding cylinders. Calor regularly fails to replace empty ones

The home heating oil situation is terrible for many unlucky enough to be about to refill. The solutions of 'comparison' and 'collective buying' are weak at this time. The outrage is this is an unregulated, unprotected, market (we've long called for that to change). We are subserving many, especially those who live in rural communities.

@MartinSLewis @BBCWatchdog Home oil order plcd 3 weeks ago- pre-middle east war at 0.60p/ltr. Supplier cancels order today stating they can’t fulfil orders under 0.95 p/l AND they have no oil to supply or they will go out of business. Now on hook to pay £1.40 p/ltr #OilPrices

@creva @ValMThatcher @AcademicAgent_X If you’re self-employed or a landlord and want to use Excel for MTD, then it’s not compatible. As Excel does not have the ability to submit updates and submissions to HMRC directly. VAT has different rules.

I'm absolutely appalled by the fact that HMRC now requires COMMERCIAL software to fill out tax self-assessment. What's wrong with Excel? Or how about offer it from the Government website? What a disgusting decision by the government. So angry.
