This is it. Anthropic just mass-deployed remote employees for $20/month. Claude can now totally take over your Mac while you’re away. You text it a task from your phone. It opens your apps, clicks through your browser, does anything you could do. You come back to finished work on your desktop. Here’s everything that just changed: - You pair your phone to your Mac via Claude’s Dispatch feature - Send a task from anywhere (“export the pitch deck as a PDF and attach it to my 2pm meeting invite”) - Claude checks if it has a direct integration first (Slack, Google Calendar, etc) - If not, it takes screenshots of your screen, analyzes them, and physically controls your mouse and keyboard to get the job done - It can handle recurring tasks too: “scan my emails every morning” or “pull weekly metrics every Friday” ChatGPT's agent mode runs in a remote browser on OpenAI's servers. my hot take is that there should be no time accommodations for a /standardized test/ ever if someone is blind? Yeah they get adjustments so they can literally take the test. But extra time is fake. No one should get extra time. It defeats the whole purpose of the test.

@mauddweeb If it takes you more time to read or write, for whatever reason (dyslexia, mechanical issue with the hand, visual impairment etc) you have objectively less time to complete the assignment than your non disabled peers. The extra time is meant to adjust for that.

This is precisely why all public and private policy feels so horrendously feminized, detached from reality and made by some stunted woman child/ school marm -The net effect is that controlling bureaucracy at many institutions and organizations is over 70% women and in some cases nearly 100%. -This is why no matter what happens, the flow of crazy seems relentless -As we speak, girl bosses are hiring foreigners from countries no sane person should. They're celebrating the holidays of these people, creating a whole new set of rules to make them feel "welcome" and before you say that's not possible, guess who runs human resources in every single institution? -When we lose the midterms, and later the presidency, expect everything to become a hundred or maybe a thousand times worse. Your culture, your legacy is already being stabbed to death now. It'll be buried under the rubble of "multiculturalism" before you can blink. -Any hope that the new administration would remedy the existential threat posed by a rising gynocracy has now vanished. They are too focused abroad. But the call is coming from inside the house. Always was. Many years ago I was a brand new baby nurse. We had a 700+ lb patient. His belly weight shifted when he rolled and fell off the side of the bed. It was a slow drip and the physics meant the rest of him was going down to the floor soon. He tried to hold on. My natural instincts kicked in. My 118 lb body tried to step in and push him back in bed. There were maybe 4 nurses there at this point. My boss physically pulled me back away from him. She said STOP!!! I was surprised. I said, “he’s going to fall!!!” She looked at me like I was insane. He fell. She said, “you almost got crushed under 800 lbs trying to be a hero. There was nothing you were going to do but get hurt.” That mean old woman saved my back. Queen.

i don’t feel like my parents owe me any inheritance and would be happy for them if they had fun spending all of their retirement savings. but i also feel really good about the prospect of leaving my own children money that would make their lives easier, and thru this lens the boomer behavior of taking cruises while your kids are struggling to afford daycare and houses and stuff seems strange. like maybe when my baby is grown up i’ll feel differently, but i doubt it? i find myself wanting to promise him that as long as i live i want to help him and be there for him.

The phones are NOT listening to you. The amount of data that would require would be insane to store and impossible to analyze (even nowadays with AI). Usually this is how it goes: 1. You and a friend are having a conversation about something 2. Both of your devices are connected to the same wifi (aka same IP address) 3. Days later (or even before the conversation!) your friend googles something/clicks an instagram ad related to that topic etc 4. That intent is backtraced and connected to your device Even when not connected to the same wifi sometimes it can be back traced by seeing location history (which is a setting you can disable) Also intent can be chained, i.e. maybe your friend wasn't the one who googled something but it was their wife

I used to think like this. Then one day I was at my cousins house and we were talking about going on a ski trip to a mountain town in the PNW. My phone was in the kitchen, 15 feet away, on the counter. 3 days later I was scrolling on instagram and I start getting airbnb adds for the exact ski town. The reality is that it's impossible for me to function in the day to day world without a phone and a computer. All of these things spy on you with no fucking consent. And what are they doing with it all? What are they doing with all your data and information? Adds. Fucking adds. Nothing but just advertisements. That's what it all amounts to. I have never clicked on an add in my life. I have never bought something because of an add. I will trade seeing advertisements for cheaper McDonalds slop because I have never purchased something as a result of an add in my entire life.
