US housing market demand is collapsing:
US new home sales fell -17.6% MoM in January, to 587,000 units, the lowest since 2022.
This marks the largest monthly drop since July 2013, far worse than the -2.7% expected.
YoY, sales fell -11.3%, the worst annual decline in 3 years.
The Northeast was hit hardest with sales plunging -44.7% MoM, followed by the Midwest at -33.9%.
Furthermore, the median new home price fell -6.8% YoY to $400,000, the lowest since 2024, bringing the 3-month average down to ~$410,000, the lowest since 2022.
Meanwhile, mortgage rates have jumped +33 basis points over the last 2 weeks, to 6.43%, the highest since September, marking the largest 2-week increase in nearly a year.
Higher interest rates are back.

NEW: Social media philanthropist, Jimmy Darts, helps raise $150,000 for a struggling family in Oklahoma.
The young boy had previously gone viral after he told Darts that God had been good to him despite his family's struggles.
"Amanda shared with me that she is only a month away from homelessness. She has no car, no money for groceries, and is doing everything she can to care for her children and grandchildren," Darts said on GoFundMe.

- Source told me back in Dec. 2024 Tom Brady liked him
- Raiders tried to trade for him last offseason (Got Kenny Pickett instead)
- LV has been linked to Kirk Cousins, Joe Flacco, veteran QBs
- With Maxx Crosby back, LV doesn't have as much money to spend in Free Agency so maybe the Raiders turn to a 3rd year QB on a rookie contract
