Labor is removing the higher private health insurance rebate for Australians over 65. Modelling from Private Healthcare Australia shows some retirees could face premium increases three times higher than younger members. A couple over 70 with gold hospital cover could be hit with an extra $1,614 a year. Over 900,000 of those affected earn less than $55,000. These are people who did the right thing and kept private cover to take pressure off the public system. Now they're being punished for it. Because when Labor runs out of money, they come after yours.

@michaelkerby2 Buy a dump, renovate, live in it while renovating, sell for a profit, no capital gains tax because it’s a primary residence. Borrow private money for deposit and reno in exchange for profit share. Turnover 3 or 4 a year. Make hundreds of thousands tax free.

@GeoffWilsonWAM Daughter, 52, opened a shop fm scratch 2 yrs ago but if she wants to sell in next few yrs the max amt of CGT will be payable. But it was AFTER-tax money she sunk into the shop! She's worked long hrs, employed 8 ppl &has foregone proper wages to plough profits back into the busns.

We all need to fight this until the policy is changed. The Government needs to repeal this otherwise, they will lose the next election, as they did in 2019, when they went after negative gearing, CGT and franking.
