@therapyworksBC @guyfelicella I don't see it as "asking regular folks to donate." I see it as making it more convenient. Because sometimes it's hard for a person to get to the food bank's building, but the grocery store will collect donations and deliver them on a person's behalf.

@guyfelicella And with the price of groceries how can most help?? That's obscene. The stores make obscene profits and ask reg folks to donate???? Then throw out theirs too.

@DemosKratosCA Lots of these welfare “single moms” have working men living with them. They won’t claim as common-law, they aren’t married, they’re scammers. Let’s cap welfare at 3 months. Maybe something else for single parents where we ensure they are in fact single.

People on welfare should have to work at least 20 hours a week doing community service in order to receive benefits. Even "unfit for work" people can still contribute. They can answer phones, do computer work... Mentally challenged? No problem. You can still sweep walkways or rake parks.

I'll never understand how so many people, seemingly fine, claim they have such bad mental illnesses that they can't do any job. I got a job in manufacturing during covid, just to keep myself busy. shortly after Covid, there were two different girls that joined my team (at different times). Both were very open about their 'anxiety' and only working until they got back on disability. They apparently had such bad anxiety that it was impossible to hold down a job. But they didn't seem to have any problem, they socialized at work, one even wanted to join our small group that got together on Friday. One worked for about 2 weeks, the other for a month, and then they apparently got back on disability. I even remember years before that, when I was away at University, my mom told me my sister was on disability. Why? she didn't know, I didn't know, no one seemed to know. But her life was exactly the same other than she didn't have to work. There is so much abuse of social systems. If every single person who was abusing it was forced off, making them a contributor by working rather than a leech, there would be substantial savings of taxpayer dollars, and those who actually need the money could recieve a bit more while the rest is put towards the national debt.

@DemosKratosCA I will add to that. Welfare recipients should pick up their cheques, and be subjected to random drug testing

Here are my reasons for Alberta Independence: Freedom of speech Right to carry arms Immigration control Gasoline ~$0.75/ltr No more equalization payments, saving us >$50 billion/year No wealth destroying Net-Zero policies and federal regulations Federal income tax becomes a flat 10% income tax rate No carbon tax No capital gains tax No tax on home equity No GST Access to USD gives us increase in purchasing power by 30% Our resources will no longer be politically landlocked Better pension plan Better health care based on public/private access More freedom for my children and grand children Canada Parks will become Alberta Parks and will be much better managed Cheaper flights/phone/internet services A Constitutional Republic is superior to the archaic Parliamentary government. Alberta will be booming!

BREAKING: Manitoba just approved a life-saving supervised consumption site. 🙌🏼🙌🏼 Apparently @DanMazierMP calls saving lives and connecting people to recovery a “failed experiment.” I’m a recovering addict who was brought back to life six times after relapsing. If supervised consumption sites and harm reduction didn’t exist, I wouldn’t be over 13 years sober today. I wouldn’t have my beautiful family. I wouldn’t have an incredible job helping others find recovery. People can debate policy all they want, but I’m and many others are living proof these services keep people alive long enough to recover. Dead people don’t recover, Dan. Do better.
Dan Mazier@DanMazierMP

BREAKING: The failed drug experiment is coming to Manitoba. The NDP are opening a drug consumption site in Winnipeg while provinces across Canada shut these failed sites down. These sites are magnets for drugs and disorder. Approving a place for people to consume drugs is the easiest thing a politician can do. It avoids the difficult, serious, expensive work of building real treatment and real recovery pathways. Instead, they keep people addicted and cycling through the same revolving door of drug enablement. And as long as they are doing that, politicians never actually have to solve anything. Real compassion means treatment and recovery. It does not mean opening government-sanctioned drug sites in communities and leaving families to deal with the disorder, needles, and open drug use. The left-wing politicians pushing this drug site will not live next door to it, so they don't care. When this site is opened, it will not be the end. It will be this site first, then the next one, then another. Then the conversation shifts to government-funded safe supply, where taxpayers are buying the drugs outright. And then the proposal becomes decriminalization, where there are no consequences for possession of any hard drugs. That’s exactly the road the NDP government in British Columbia went down, and British Columbia is now a failed experiment that the rest of Canada is desperately trying to avoid. Real compassion means fighting for recovery, not enabling the next hit. It is important to note that every single supervised drug consumption site in Canada exists because the federal government provided a legal exemption through the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The federal Health Minister directly approves consumption sites through Section 56.1 and authorizes provinces to approve sites through a class exemption granted under Subsection 56(1). Without the Liberal government's approval, these sites are not allowed to exist.

@AmCan17 @Smil3yAngel @grok Well, Grok was a bust, but Google was helpful. And, let's just say that HBC was a strong influence in Canada's hostile relationship with Indigenous people.

@MatrixMysteries Also, in Canada, like in the USA's "paid" and "free" systems, the more urgent your case is, the faster you get care. 2/2

@MatrixMysteries Now, think about this: In the USA, there are hospitals where healthcare is "free". Wait times are probably just as long. And only select few are eligible. Unlike Canada, where EVERYBODY qualifies for "free" healthcare. 1/2

A Canadian woman with a swollen appendix was told to go to the ER. She films the wait-time board. 15+ HOURS to see a doctor. And she says she had already been waiting 3 hours. This is “free” universal healthcare in Canada.

Today my wife and I take the ETFO teachers union to court for failing to uphold their duty to fairly represent us. We were fired from teaching for refusing to celebrate LGBTQ in the classroom. Our human & Charter rights were violated. The union 'called in sick' last time. Are Christians allowed to teach, in Canada? LOST FREEDOM FILES # 2023

We'll be in court (Labour Board) tomorrow against the ETFO teachers union. My wife and I were both fired from teaching for refusing a board order to CELEBRATE LGBTQ with kids. The union refused to pursue a defence against the violation of our Charter and human rights. Last session ETFO, backed out at the last moment. LOST FREEDOM FILES # 2023

@RainEden2 @tinyrowlet Unfortunately, the same thing can't be said of cis men. How many women & kids are going to have to be victimized by cis men taking advantage of this awful law before the transphobes are forced to recognize that they were worried about a non-existent threat?

@RainEden2 @tinyrowlet Yes. It almost seems like that was their intent in the first place. But we both know it has absolutely NOTHING to do with women’s safety, it is only about making life harder for transgender people.

@tinyrowlet Doesn’t this policy make it easier for any man to go into the women’s toilets or change rooms and just clam to be F at birth? Have they inadvertently opened up an opportunity to make it more dangerous for women?
