Vance is truly the embodiment of the American dream, which is that if you're enough of an unprincipled bootlicking scumbag there are no heights to which you cannot rise
Melissa S. Kearney@kearney_melissa

Whatever one thinks of Vance, his commentary, or his policy positions, for those of us who love a good upward mobility story & were raised to believe in the promise of America, the fact that the kid in this book will soon be sworn in as US Vice President really is incredible.

This is a fun profile in the Sunday Times gets a little more personal than some of the others. It also means I'm now Officially A New Yorker since I got my picture taken next to a hot dog cart. thetimes.com/magazines/the-…

@fast_women I feel like it’s the coaches and tactics as well, the selections themselves weren’t necessarily the problem or only problem

I don’t think anyone could have possibly predicted how fun it is to have Grant do the sideline reporting

Back with another edition of crunching the World Rankings to determine who made the U.S. Olympic team… Men’s 5000m edition • Parker Wolfe finishes third in a personal best of 13:10.75 — does not have the Olympic standard. Will have to try and get in on the World Ranking. The entry point is No. 42. With this performance, Wolfe moves up to a 1200-point average, which puts him just ahead of Australia’s Jack Rayner at No. 46. He would need a few people to scratch to get in. To my knowledge, South Africa’s Adriaan Wildschutt is only doing the 10,00 at the Olympics. That’s one. New Zealand’s George Beamish is only doing the steeplechase at the Games. That’s two. USA’s Nico Young and Cooper Teare would come out from ahead of him in the rankings. That’s four. I’m not sure if Spain’s Adel Mechaal will double with the 1500m and 5000m. He did at the European Championships. Haven’t poured over any other national championship results. I think this is too close to call right now. Will standby for any more info or clarity. • Graham Blanks has the Olympic standard and finished fourth in a season’s best of 13:12.61.

“Mu’s team filed a protest late Monday night. Kersee says that the track spike marks on her leg show that she was hit by the runner behind her, not the other way around. Therefore, they argued that she was impeded, and the contact wasn’t incidental. Mu’s team says all eight angles of NBC’s footage miss the most critical viewpoint: from the outside of the track, which would show who caused the contact. USATF officials also reviewed the footage but denied the appeal on Tuesday morning. No details were released publicly. On Wednesday, Mu’s reps appealed the decision, but within an hour, they were denied again. Mu’s team is advocating for what they interpret from the rule book: that she is entitled for the final to be rerun.” Protests and appeals have been denied by USATF. Unfortunately, one of our biggest stars will be watching Paris from home but this is the Trials.
