@dylann_cfc It’s only weird if you can’t distinguish between football and a 40 year old war.

32 Welsh Guards died in the Falklands War btw. This is such strange behaviour

@PhillipAKennedy But as you say no wife, no kids and a pension. What would he need any more for. What would he do with it?

Dying at 71 with just a $1.5M net worth (despite a $174k+ salary, no wife, and no kids) is all the confirmation you need that this guy had no business making decisions for the rest of us.

@piersmorgan @HKane Its very possible that one has fuck all to do with the other. Still checking.

England are two wins away from being crowned football World Champions in America, just days after the U.S. celebrated 250 years of kicking us out. If that doesn’t inspire @HKane and his team to glory, nothing will. Come on lads, do it for King George III.

@EnigmaZRU Thank you, I think most didn’t understand my point with this message.

There was a time when men had places to go after work.
You finished your shift, you went to the pub with your mates, you had a few beers, you talked shit, you let the steam off and then you went home, that used to be normal, it was just how men stayed sane.
Now that’s almost gone, nightclubs are dying, pubs are dying, the places where normal working men used to gather have been priced out of existence, alcohol tax keeps rising, cigarette tax keeps rising, everything that used to give men an affordable way to switch off and be around other men has been attacked in the name of “health.”
Meanwhile men’s mental health has gone off a cliff, you’re not allowed to say it but a lot of men are killing themselves because they have nowhere to go and no one to talk to, the same people who lecture you about mental health are the ones who made sure the places men used to go became too expensive for normal people, they took away the reasonably priced beer, the cigarettes, the local pub, the simple ritual of men being around other men without it being turned into some kind of therapy session.
They replaced it with nothing.
Now you’re supposed to go home, sit on your phone, and be grateful you’re not “toxic.” you’re supposed to get all your social interaction through a screen while your real life gets lonelier and when you eventually break, they act surprised and tell you to talk to someone.
Men weren’t built to live like this.
We used to have a simple system, work hard, drink with your mates, go home to your family, it wasn’t perfect but it worked for millions of men for generations, now that system has been dismantled on purpose and nobody in charge seems to give a shit that men are falling apart as a result.
They’ll tax the things that kept men together and then they’ll act confused when the suicide rates keep climbing.
It’s what happens when you take away every affordable outlet men had to let off steam and be around each other, then wonder why they’re not okay.

@saswata_writes You have that in quotations but he didnt say the first sentence.

Jill and I are shocked by the sudden passing of Lindsey Graham.
Lindsey and I served together in Congress for over a decade, and worked closely on many issues throughout the years. We traveled the world together as members of the Senate Foreign Relations committee. We disagreed often, and sometimes loudly.
Lindsey and I did agree on the profound importance of public service. Like me, he loved the Senate as an institution, even with all its flaws and complexities.
To his family, his staff, his constituents in South Carolina, and everyone who loved him: Jill and I are keeping you in our prayers.

@SkyNews The “Norway disagreement” was ginned up by one reporter who got pissed off that Tuchel wouldn’t give him the quote he wanted and misrepresented his answer to Bellingham to try and stir up drama like he was in Mean Girls, nobody cares man.

@bruceahuntjr Good post. There is a lot that needs to be explained about his political machinations but now is not the time.

Lindsey Graham has died.
Many close friends and family will feel broken today.
I wish them well.
I want to rush a few words forward, knowing how critical so many are likely to be.
Senator Graham came from humble beginnings.
He had a sensitive and loyal disposition.
And must have been insecure, though on principle wouldn't show it.
His political shift to Trump reveals a pronounced peace with another principle: "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em."
He was a rival presidential primary candidate in 2015/16.
In his stump speech he championed Simpson/Bowles on fixing the debt, Ronald Reagan and Tip O'Neill on Social Security reform.
As one of his few campaign volunteers in New Hampshire, I got to hear the speech many times. McCain told him to lighten up on entitlements, and talk more about American innovation, smart phones, etc. Graham nodded politely but didn't change his speech.
He spoke about the positives of legal immigration for our economy and budget.
He spoke of fighting the enemy there so they don't come here.
He cared about the dangers of climate change.
He was strongly pro-life.
On the Senate Judiciary Committee, he stepped up firmly but politely on behalf of Samuel Alito during his confirmation hearing. Later, he stepped up loudly and proudly for Brett Kavanaugh, shifting the momentum in his favor at a crucial moment.
On J6, he jumped off the Trump train, though later he of course reboarded.
He did everything he could to thrive in Trump's inner circle.
We know what he did in public view in that regard.
We don't know what good or evil he influenced privately, but perhaps one day we will know more.
For my part, I will withhold final judgment, as I have since 2016, waiting for any revelation that might make more sense of the good and the bad.
I'll keep waiting for something to help distinguish political necessity from the truest and fairest tests of public service, for one of those men who manage to get from the cheap seats to the center of the assembly, and who at some points along the way seemed really good.

@JacobsBen The problem is with the wording of the rule not the intent of the rule. This is exactly what the rule should be for. If this was the ONLY thing VAR was used for it would be a massive improvement to VAR and to the game.
English

The problem with the new ‘mistaken identity’ rule is that it sets a dangerous precedent.
Breel Embolo dived, so if called on the field it’s a second yellow, but that wasn’t the decision.
Yet an amendment to IFAB wording before the tournament states: “When the referee shows a yellow or red card but has clearly penalised the wrong player of either team for the offence in question; the offence itself cannot be reviewed except in the context of mistaken identity.”
We saw the same with Tim Ream (originally booked for a foul) and Miguel Almiron (eventually booked for diving) in USA vs. Paraguay.
In both instances, the right decision was reached when revisiting the incidents.
Yet it’s massively open for debate as to whether this is actually ‘mistaken identity’, and that’s the issue.
It’s just a mistake by the referees. Both got sold by a dive. They didn’t mix up players. They just made a bad call on a regular foul and wrongly handed out a yellow card.
So really it’s just a rule allowing VAR to intervene on more minor on-field calls, and that’s the part a lot of people will feel uneasy about.
