In Detroit, the bankrupt school district used to sit on blighted and abandoned buildings in order to prevent other public or private schools from buying and redeveloping them. A state law was passed to prevent the uses of these types of property deed restrictions, leading to better schools opening and expanding and increasing educational opportunities for children. But the state legislature is now considering a bill that would repeal that law. If passed into law, more run-down buildings would litter our state. And more Michigan school kids would be kept from pursuing better educational options. School board official admits district would rather demolish historic school than allow another school to move in. We've seen this before. @Detroitk12 tried to block Detroit Achievement Academy from purchasing a lot that the district had already sold. mackinac.org/25465 @kylesmitley @GLEP_MI @dquisenberrymi @MICharters @DeAngelisCorey

Idk maybe it’s my Big @YassPrize Energy (BYE?) but the idea of handcuffing Michigan neighborhoods to live in blight with big empty buildings bc @NoahArbit is trying to take heat off his shady school district seems… worth some heat. Can do. 🫡 @edreform
