@TonyGerdeman Most of the time I oppose the death penalty but would make an exception for you on this one.

@mgoblueba @Hayesfawcett3 @Rivals @rj_day1 @NUFBFamily @ryandaytime I remember John McKay talking about recruiting is son Jay Kay McKay. He told the coaches, "Don't recruit that kid. His mother can't even get him to take out the trash." 🤣 All kidding aside, I love RJ but he would never play at OSU. He will at least have a shot at NW.

@cwerph @LoganGwald @RockChartrand @GunnelsWarren That's funny -- my Medicare Advantage plan is $0 HMO through Med Mutual! and yes, many better plans were changed or eliminated this year. We picked the "least bad plan" but lost TONS of previous benefits. It was a real shocker. I used several "facilitators" -- that's crazy too!

@RockChartrand @ATLCWorker Ask a child if Santa brings Christmas presents, the Easter Bunny brings candy and the Tooth Fairy pays money when they lose a tooth. What a childish argument. 🤣

Children also think food appears from stores, money comes from nowhere, and parents can magically solve every problem. A child saying everyone should have food and shelter isn’t an argument for socialism, it’s evidence that morality without understanding production, trade, incentives, or rights is just emotional impulse. Maturity is realizing that wanting something to exist doesn’t explain who produces it, who pays for it, or whether force should be used to provide it.

@LoganGwald @babyblueice22 @RockChartrand @GunnelsWarren This year, we went with a $0 premium HMO through Medical Mutual of Ohio. This year many plans with better formularies and copay structures were eliminated. I was in this my whole life. I have no idea how people choose wisely. it comes down to trusting the company you choose.

@babyblueice22 @RockChartrand @GunnelsWarren The largest PBMs - (CVS owns Aetna) and Express Scripts (owned by Cigna) are indistinguishable from the insurance companies. Of course insurance companies have their greasy money all over politics, again, both parties.

@cwerph @RockChartrand @GunnelsWarren I agree this system is far too complex for really older seniors or anyone who isn't "on the ball" -- can't use a computer or smart phone -- isn't fluent in English, etc. The vulnerable are NOT protected and the ACA is at fault.

@babyblueice22 @RockChartrand @GunnelsWarren IF you use retail. The mail utilization rate is one of the keys to the insurance company making money, so they push people that way. It is much easier. I never have to worry about refills, they are shipped when due. When I'm out of refills, they contact the Dr. for me.

@cwerph @RockChartrand @GunnelsWarren It isn't that hard to shop around for drug prices today -- in fact, a decent pharmacist will tell you if a price is extreme. The biggest problem we found w/ mail order pharmacies is they just don't fulfill orders in a timely way. We ended up just going to the drugstore ourselves.

@babyblueice22 @RockChartrand @GunnelsWarren It shouldn't be this way, but the PBM's own Congress, and that is regardless of party. Cigna and CVS divide their political contributions so that no matter who is in power, they get to slant the laws in their favor.

@babyblueice22 @RockChartrand @GunnelsWarren Here's the problem: I picked this plan knowing ahead of time what I needed to do. However, the average elderly person has no clue and if they use the mail pharmacy that the company prefers, they wouldn't even know they can get it cheaper. Like I said, 'sucks' is being kind.

@cwerph @RockChartrand @GunnelsWarren You clearly do not know how it works so it is pretty sad given you claim to have been a pharmacist. You are not remotely as smart as you think, you screwed up.

@babyblueice22 @RockChartrand @GunnelsWarren That 50 years I spend in healthcare? It was as a registered pharmacist. Pretty sure if one of us is more qualified to pick a plan, it would be me. I know how things work.

@babyblueice22 @RockChartrand @GunnelsWarren I spent 50 years in healthcare. Compared to my employer-supported insurance plan Medicare doesn't cover many of the things I took for granted for most of my life. The hoops are endless. It's actually cheaper to get many of my meds with GoodRx. 'Sucks' is a kind description.

@RockChartrand @GunnelsWarren I'm not sure why you think "Medicare sucks". It works pretty well compared to any private insurance plan, and covers many millions of seniors who would otherwise be uninsurable due to their age. SS is not a Ponzi scheme, that's a dumb take on things.

@DarkoStateNews @MattWalshBlog I used to be a strong proponent of the death penalty, but looking at the disparity between rich and poor made me rethink my position. Your ability to avoid the ultimate penalty depends upon your ability to afford a great lawyer to make a deal for you.

You picked the easiest possible case and demanded people defend the killer. Most would concede Horner “deserves” to die. But that isn't the question. The question is whether the state should be doing it. Over 200 people sentenced to death in this country have later been exonerated. Cameron Todd Willingham was almost certainly innocent and Texas executed him anyway. You can't build a system that only applies to the obvious cases. You get the whole system or none of it, and the whole system kills innocent people. That’s been proven, and there is no greater injustice. One last thing, since you're Catholic. Our own Church teaches the death penalty is inadmissible. Pope Francis put it in the Catechism. If you want to claim moral authority here, you're offside with Rome. We don't have to argue Horner deserves to live. We have to argue the state shouldn't be trusted to decide who dies. You of all people have faith in the state, here? No wonder you skipped that argument entirely.

I am challenging any death penalty opponent — there are millions of them, allegedly — to step up to the plate right now and explain why this guy should not be executed. His guilt is established beyond any doubt whatsoever. His crime is utterly savage and heinous. Tell us why he doesn’t deserve to die. Go ahead.
