$TAO A new trendy app "Tao Institute" ranks Bittensor sn28 higher than Chutes.

Then you check their Subnet Traction page and Chutes is top 1 in revenue.

Sorry but for a "institutional subnet risk index" app, this is misleading for people that are unable to validate the data.
Bittensor should evaluate subnets on higher standards and not blindly trust such nice-looking trendy apps to lead them into financial advice.
This is not a rant about the subnets themselves, but rather about the classification "algo" that is used to display the top subnets.
What is the purpose of Bittensor? I question that more frequently as I observe investors habits last couple of months.
Plus, it seems like sn3, 39 and 81 were not enough to educate the people about how risky investing in subnets can be if you don't choose wisely.

bittensor foundation unilaterally shut down 3 subnets and halted revenue for covenant AI without governance vote or transparent process. $300m wiped. TAO -13.6%. basilica token -62%. templar founder dumped 37,000 TAO ($11m) right behind them. the proposed fix is lock-based subnet ownership which prevents founder exits but does nothing about the central kill switch on revenue streams. if the foundation can halt your earnings with no recourse, no appeal, no on-chain vote, you're not building on a decentralized protocol. you're renting permission. every AI x crypto project claiming decentralization needs to answer one question: can a multisig shut down my operation tomorrow. if yes, price accordingly

Reevaluating TAO and subnets after this move by Covenant. Very disappointing to see. Unclear but based on what I can tell seems like Covenant completely rugged their existing tokenholders (Templar, Grail, Basilica). I hope not but I'm out. Not a pretty picture.

Half a million (soon million) blackwell GPUs in a single DC doing 10t! param models. Hopper/blackwell GPUs are also very difficult to source right now, even if you wanted to pay extra. GPU scarcity, power costs rising, closed AI labs ramping up... This is what the open source community is up against. We need a step-change in our approach to decentralized training.

Reminder too that chutes team operates as a group of independent corporations with no CEO, and our funds are locked into a smart contract which pays our staking rewards to fund the team members.

When people ask how to avoid hacks I usually recommend having 2 separate devices. One “daily driver” with 0 funds that never touches a blockchain and then a completely separate, dedicated computer used exclusively to also not touch blockchains. I don’t recommend using blockchains
