I'm happy for Tyler Shough but the glazing is getting to a fever dream. Jaxson Dart EPA/play 13th in the league with Shough at 24th. If you want a CPOE + EPA composite, Dart is still better. Box score stats, Shough has more yards/game (253 vs 227) but close enough to not matter. Dart is 22/5 TD:INT whereas Shough is 11/5. And none of this factors in that Shough has Chris Olave (and Rasheed Shahid for half the year) whereas Dart had 1 quarter of Malik Nabers and his top WR in Wan'dale, who is good, don't get me wrong, but not Olave. It also doesn't factor in SOS. Since Shough became starter in Week 9, the Saints have played vs 2 teams with winning/.500 records whereas the Giants have played 6.

As cringe as it is, it’s his prerogative to go that route. I also think that in order to be considered for DPOY, your team should at least be in line to make the playoffs as a wildcard. I get tired of the constantly repeated narrative of how he can wreck or impact a game by himself—but 12 other teams scored more points than the Browns this season. How much are you really impacting the game? To me this makes no sense whatsoever. The only Edge players I know of that actually affect games from a Win Loss perspective are TJ Watt, Aiden Hutchinson and Micah Parsons as indicated each time they’re absent from the field.

Investing your future in Jaxson Dart is a mistake. He can't stay on the field because he needs to run with complete reckless abandon to be even a little successful. Even if he WERE to stay healthy, he isn't very good when he does. He will improve a little, but not enough.
