@Microinteracti1 I’m European, so I may be biased, but I personally prefer living somewhere where I don’t have to worry about unaffordable medical bills or aggressive immigration enforcement. That sense of security matters a lot to me.

@UncleDan1977 @GabeHDlouc @tarapalmeri Just because the previous admin was retarded and arguably facilitated illegal immigration doesn’t mean we need to let bygones be bygones
English

@bryant__972 @UncleDan1977 @tarapalmeri Depends on how you define it. NC is a purple state. Also, they didn’t show up to Charlotte nearly the same as the Twin Cities
English

@tanner35634 @UncleDan1977 @tarapalmeri Yes they are. They just did a full scale sweep in Charlotte.
English

@UncleDan1977 @GabeHDlouc @tarapalmeri They were allowed in under very fast & loose rules of “asylum”. Asylum if running away as a refugee is the first safe counter you enter. Not 8 countries down the line to the US. Also, they were let in with a hearing.. it’s at our discretion to let them stay or deport
English

I’m not disagreeing rules are rules but they were let in. There for they didn’t sneak in. So in fairness they need to figure it out. Putting them in jail and deporting them the way they are is not right. It’s not like they are doing anything wrong once here. There’s plenty of good ones here who just wanna work and live their life.

@BarackObama @MichelleObama No drama, no scandals.. just a closeted ex president and a chef’s death we don’t talk about

It’d be ironic if Europe simply called the bluff.
Eat the tariffs, accelerate Mercosur, deepen trade with China, and diversify away from US leverage - all while Washington cheers from the sidelines thinking this is “strength.”
Trade pressure only works if the other side has no alternatives. Europe does.
To be clear, I’d much prefer a cooperative path: pragmatic agreement, closer US–EU alignment, maybe even expanded US defence cooperation in Greenland - without the aggressive “takeover” rhetoric that plays more like a spoiled bully than a strategic ally.
The real risk here isn’t tariffs - it’s that this posture nudges allies toward Beijing and normalises coercion between friends. That’s a dangerous game.
I suspect a lot of the cheerleaders would change tone very quickly if this escalated into:
1. strategic alignment shifts toward China, or
2. loose rhetoric about “security” or military pressure against European allies.
Both would be lines too far for many Americans - even those applauding today.
Leverage cuts both ways.

Our position on Greenland is very clear – it is part of the Kingdom of Denmark and its future is a matter for the Greenlanders and the Danes.
We have also made clear that Arctic Security matters for the whole of NATO and allies should all do more together to address the threat from Russia across different parts of the Arctic.
Applying tariffs on allies for pursuing the collective security of NATO allies is completely wrong. We will of course be pursuing this directly with the US administration.
English

@UncleDan1977 @GabeHDlouc @tarapalmeri We don’t “need” immigrants. We already had plenty (10’a of millions) of illegals here before Biden. The presumption of your argument is it’s cruel to deport them as if they’re all farm hands and not taking taxpayer funded social services. Rules are rules.
English

@GabeHDlouc @tanner35634 @tarapalmeri We need immigrants and my question is how are they “illegal” if they were allowed in? I understand my grandfather filed the paper work and waiting 9 years. But a lot are here and working and stay away from trouble. Those are the ones we need to help and keep here.

@RepDonBeyer Why would any American be against getting Greenland? Pretend it’s not Trump’s idea
English

Trump has no legal authority to tariff American allies to bully them into backing his brainless attempt to seize Greenland.
This is against the law, it’s a total disaster for America, and Republicans in Congress and the Supreme Court need to find their spines and stop it.
Jake Tapper 🦅@jaketapper
Trump says on Feb 1 he will impose a 10% tariff “on any and all goods sent” to US from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, UK, Netherlands, & Finland, increasing to 25% June 1 “until such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland.”
English

@ASVAB_Waiver @FOS It’s free market competition. Chicago is run by morons
English

@FOS The fact that this is even benign considered is absolutely disgusting and what is exactly wrong with sports in America. It’s nothing but a spit in the face to tradition.
English

@GabeHDlouc @UncleDan1977 @tarapalmeri I stand corrected lol.. FL wouldn’t allow that shit to begin with so you’re right
English

@tanner35634 @UncleDan1977 @tarapalmeri No it’s not. There’s not proven wide spread 3rd world somali fraud in FL. Your retort is a false dichotomy actually
English

@UncleDan1977 @tarapalmeri ICE is present but is not doing full-scale sweeps. It’s a false dichotomy that it’s all or nothing.
English

@tarapalmeri Then why is ice in central Florida? This is false
English

@tarapalmeri It’s a really simple explanation. Blue cities and states do not cooperate with ICE and DHS. If an illegal gets arrested, they will release said illegal back to the streets. Florida will transfer them to ICE if the paperwork shows they’re here illegally.
