@JonAguiar If we want open, transparent markets then we probably shouldn't be surprised when market participants adapt by using that transparency to run a tighter operation

So instead of sportsbooks limiting winners the prediction markets hire market makers to take the action and then they identify the winners and deny them action.

Violating the rights of states who have been regulating sports betting and the rights of the states who oppose sports betting is not the purview of another alphabet soup federal agency. That’s what you’re doing. Yes I am standing up for the rights of all 50 states. Proud of it.

That is why it doesn’t matter at all that someone drew a line in the sand between “sports” and “everything else” a long time ago

There is a single aspect of prediction markets that is controversial: sports betting, which began 1 year ago. No state is trying to stop any of the other offerings that have been around for many years.
The debate, and eventual resolution, would be so much easier if the strawmanning stopped.

@0xSisyphus Yeah, and encouraging financially desperate people to gamble is bad because the likely outcome is that they become even more financially desperate.

I've been chatting with some great AI native founders and companies (@FactoryAI, @tryRamp, @Linear).
The way they build products is just completely different.
Regardless of function (eng, PM, design, sales), they understand that their role is to onboard and delegate work to their AI agents/skills/etc.
The job of the human becomes to give AI the right context, systems, and feedback loops to do its best work and to apply human taste along the way.
It's just a completely different paradigm and 99% of tech workers and companies haven't realized this yet.

I like to think that politicians are so pissed off about sports markets because they recognize that they've opened pandora's box of futarchy
But in reality AGA members are probably just paying for these signatures, using them as puppets

Currently there's a misleading community note on this. Yes, you can buy Steam keys off Steam.
ONCE YOU OWN A GAME, Steam forces developers to use Steam payments for all in-game purchases and pay 30%. This is the practice courts found illegal for Apple and Google.

Steam’s rules do explicitly prohibit games from steering players to competing purchase methods, forcing everyone to pay 30% to Valve. Apple and Google did the same until the court explicitly found this practice to be unlawful. Now they don’t!
