“You’re going to have to show up on days that are hard. That shared commitment, purpose, relentless no matter if you’re getting the results you want or not. When you operate like that in life you set yourself up for success. But even if you don’t succeed, you’ll still be a winner,” Shea Ralph

Just because you are together doesn’t make you a team. You are a team because you trust, respect and care for each other.

“I believe in you, but you gotta want this moment.” True coaching isn't always quiet. It’s about meeting an athlete’s intensity with your own, demanding excellence because you care about their growth more than their comfort in the moment. That’s the work.

Competence without confidence shows up when you have paid the price to become highly skilled, yet you hesitate to trust what you have earned. Confidence without competence shows up when belief is built on perception instead of preparation. Seek competence. Build it deliberately. Confidence grows from knowing your work, understanding your craft, and trusting the receipts you have earned.

The biggest lie hitters believe: “Confidence comes from getting hits.” It doesn’t. If your confidence comes from results, you’ll live on a rollercoaster. Hit → confidence Out → panic The best hitters build confidence from preparation and process, not outcomes.

Always hold the standard. You must rise to the standard, and call others to rise to it as well. The standard never changes. How you do anything is how you do everything. You get what you allow. The little things matter, and you must realize & get others to understand that everything matters. Lead by example. Hold others accountable to the standard. Leave things better than you found them. #RTTS

Great teams don’t avoid the moment — they meet it. When you circle up like this, you’re making a decision. To trust each other. To hold the standard. To compete with courage. Pressure doesn’t break disciplined teams — it reveals them. Every pitch is an opportunity. Every inning is a response. So respond with grit. Respond with focus. Respond together. Let’s get after it. 📷📷 playwithpurpose LUsoftball thedotrichardsonshow

Work in the dark. What you do in the dark is revealed under the bright lights. Who you are in anything is who you are in everything. Your character & successes can be built by what you do when no one’s looking. It is built outside of games and practice. It’s built in the quiet, dark, mundane days. Jesus constantly went out alone to pray. He built away from others and recognized that what He did in solitude was extremely important. We are called to do our best, no matter the situation. (Colossians 3:17, 23) Work in the dark. Win in the dark. Then win in the light.

Kara Lawson shares why winning habits must be built before the game and why losing habits are so hard to kill. "We have to stop losing habits. I don't want to develop them. If we develop them, they're habits. They're hard to get out." "Once they infiltrate this circle, they're hard to kill. We have to stop them before they become habits." Bad habits don't announce themselves...they creep in slowly. "I'm going to tell you every time I see it. But then it's incumbent upon you to stop it within yourself." Coaches can call it out. But only you can fix it. "You have to practice and play and behave like a winner if you want to win games. You have to do that." And then she dropped this: "It is not something you can just decide to be when you wake up. It ain't a Halloween costume. You can't just decide you're going to be a winner that day." "That's not how it is. You have to be that every single day - in your approach and in your execution." Winning is a mindset. It's how you choose to show up every day. Your habits will define your outcomes. Choose them wisely. (🎥@DukeWBB )

Communication expert Jefferson Fisher showed me something I won’t forget... He calls it the string theory. When two people are talking, there’s an invisible string between them. If you check your phone, the string goes slack. Even just having it on the table breaks the connection. Here’s how he explained it 👇🏾
