"I'm gonna become Batman." That's just an inside joke, right? Nah. I'm not crazy or stupid, but I mean it when I say that. 🧵

@nikitabier @rahul "Everyone needs to be observed at all times in order to prevent lives lost" interesting. I wonder if I could program a rotation of drones to follow you around and record you every time you're in public spaces...

@rahul I don’t know how we got to the point that license-plate reading became a debate around civil liberties, but it makes no sense and it’s costing lives.

Last year, the city of Austin turned off their Flock cameras as the result of a targeted misinformation campaign. This weekend, for nearly 24 hours, three suspects drove around Austin in stolen vehicles, undetected, conducting a shooting spree at 12 separate locations. They shot multiple people, houses, apartment buildings, businesses, and fire stations. They committed multiple robberies and car thefts during the spree. Despite a full manhunt involving 200 officers, with helicopter and K9 support, they weren't able to locate the suspects, and the spree continued. Luckily, the suspects drove into the Flock-supported city of Manor, TX. Manor is a small city with ~20k residents, and a fraction of Austin's budget. What they do have is modern technology and the ability not to fall victim to misinformation campaigns. After the suspects drove into Manor to continue their shooting spree, Manor PD located them almost immediately. The residents of Manor stayed safe. This is a tale of two cities. I love Austin. I have plenty of friends who live there. I myself almost moved there years ago. I'm glad that the shooting spree is over, but I just wish it never happened.

"According to Jesus we're supposed to turn the other cheek when we're hurt, right?" "Yes. In Jesus' time, a person that backhanded your cheek was treating you as lesser. So you turn the other cheek, forcing them to strike you as an equal." "What does that have to do with immigration?" "The contention is that immigrants are allowed to treat us as lesser because they come from incompatible cultures and attack us. But we can't then tell them no, because that's 'racist'." "That seems contrary to what Jesus taught." "It is, and amazingly so. Non-Christians often seize on the idea that Jesus advocated for non-violence to tell Christians to shut up and take what's being done to them." "Are you sure that's what Jesus taught? It's not like you could ask him personally. He predates you by a millennium, right?" "Jesus makes the same point with the story of giving away your cloak, and with going the extra mile. In the latter's case, a Roman soldier could make an Israelite carry anything like a pack mule for up to a mile. It was a humiliation. But Jesus told them to carry it another mile, to treat the Roman as you would a friend, which would both shame them and force them to treat you as a person instead of a mule." "What about the cloak?" "When you're poor and living in an ancient society, your cloak is vital for getting through the cold nights. In Jesus' time, it was common to get around this by demanding the other person give you their shirt. But if you give them the cloak as well, it is a deliberate provocation: if they take the shirt and cloak, they will be shamed by the community." "And... the good samaritan?" "The point was the man who was a neighbor was not the priest or the Levite, but the one who showed mercy to his neighbor. It doesn't say 'everyone is your neighbor', in fact it states the opposite rather plainly. It's your actions that make you a neighbor, NOT your ethnicity." "So, not everyone is your neighbor?" "The neighbor shows mercy to those who have been hurt." "What does that have to do with immigration?" "Nothing. They've decided it means that you must allow immigrants to raid and attack you and treat you like garbage without retaliation of any sort. You can't even say 'stop it' without being declared racist." "Then why did he bring up Christianity at all?" "Because he's not a Christian and doesn't understand it."

Christ’s gospel was so radical, so contrary to the wisdom of the world, that people are still coping 2000 years later, insisting that he didn’t actually mean what he said.

@TiarksJotham @HalfTangible We've drifted a long ways from the Bible, and you've grounded none of your statements. I'm correct; if you think the Word of God says otherwise, present the Word. Otherwise, accept the Bible's teaching. Either way, God's Word and God's will for us both.

@daltonisbatman Depends on the distance you're zeroing. For a 25m zero (common for the Army, and what we'll be doing next month), you lollipop the little line, which is your 300m aiming point. Your impacts should then be about 3/8 of an inch low. For a 100m, it would be the tip of the chevron.

@TiarksJotham @HalfTangible This one is always interesting. Christ does command that the disciples buy swords; and then the only time one of them ever uses one, He reprimands him (Peter in the garden). Then none of them ever again records using a sword, or ever recommends it.

@HalfTangible Jesus chose to be executed by His nation's people without any mounting any defense His disciples, almost without exception, submitted to brutal execution at the hands of men who hated Christ and the church, also without offering any defense

@TopLobsta ...is it an uncommon belief that Christ established His church with Himself as the foundation?

There are a few possibilites here. Lets discuss: 1. Jesus establishes his church on a man who goes on to deny him three times and behaves like a pharisee later only to be condemned by Paul. 2. Jesus established his church on those who receive revelation from God. 3. Jesus established his church on those who recognize him as the christ, son of God. Of those three, they chose a dude with a nickname. Lets not forget that this scripture takes place on Mt Hermon. The place where the fallen angels landed and made a pact to subvert God's plan. Jesus planting his church on that rock (Petras, not petros) as an insult to that plot makes alot more sense.
