@vmpops @JimHammett That’s a good point too. Pitt should be clear of the bubble next year or it’s time for a fresh start.

Something we thought was going to happen did not actually happen and in this week’s 3-2-1 column, we are breaking down that topic at length: 247sports.com/college/pittsb…

@vmpops @JimHammett Top 5 seed OR Sweet 16 appearance is my bare minimum for bringing him back after next year. Winning a play-in game or a 7/10 matchup is not enough.

@JimHammett Great stuff, Jim. But: "pretty much has to make the NCAA Tournament or it better have a really, really good reason why it would miss the event." No. Injuries, illness, legal & emotional issues, shafted by committee... won't wash. And just making NCAA isn't enough. Win something.

1. I don’t understand how people around the program were shocked they retained Capel, I’ve thought that was the most likely option for months and I have no sources. 2. NCAAT appearance is nowhere near enough. 1 win as a 10 seed is not enough. Top 5 seed or Sweet 16 or he’s gone.

Genuinely curious about this one: If your team makes the First Four, but loses in Dayton, do you feel like they actually made the NCAA Tournament?

@ryanhammer09 Yeah…this is one of those no one leaves happy situations By definition, it’s a tech. But calling it right there, in that moment, basically turns the refs into a deciding factor instead of the game, which is disgusting. A call and no call here both feel wrong

The rules of the game state this should be a tech for running on court early in all of these. Now we (+ refs) are also all human beings & understand emotions. But it still stops anything from happening the next play. Think the NCAA should visit this in the offseason & come away with some harder lines for next year. Until the buzzer goes off, stay OFF the court. Sean Miller almost strangled his assistant last night & rightfully so. Players get excited I get it more than one coach running on the floor lol

@Top100Rick Gotta remember on hole outs - no wind, flat lies, and they can practice exact shots in advance. Greens also receptive. Just part of TGL. And on tech - multiple layers of data including Full Swing impact data and 35 yards of Toptracer ball path data. Most accurate in world.

2 big tech things TGL needs to work on for next season. Coming from a fan. 1. The response delay. 4 seconds from screen impact to result is insane. 2. The hole outs. Something is off. Too many hole outs undermines confidence in the entire system.

Also Miami-OH as the last at large team in is terrifying for the future of the sport. Went undefeated in the regular season, and their reward is a play-in game to make to the Bog Dance. What the heck. 😡

@sam_golf I can understand that but I personally have no interest in majors going to PGAT courses. This includes the U.S. Open at Pebble and Riv as well. It cheapens the Major feel.

1) The Players should not be, and doesn’t need to be a major championship 2) I would like to see TPC Sawgrass host a major championship

Overall a good job from the committee. Great job in fact. They cared about Sunday, mostly went off metrics. Have to tip the cap that’s well done.

Something I pointed out in an article I wrote yesterday. “Pitt averaged 5,742 fans per home game this season. The Pete sat at 45.9 percent capacity — the lowest of the Capel era and the second-lowest all-time at the Pete. The building reached 32.9 percent capacity in 2017-18 when Pitt went 0-18 in the ACC under Kevin Stallings.” The appetite rapidly declined this season for Pitt basketball. I don’t foresee it getting any better with Capel back in 2026-27.
