To make the most of the investment, and make public transport a viable choice for more trips, the govt needs to commit to run all Metro lines frequently all day, every day.
Anything less is a missed opportunity.

@AidenHowlett I think that's the case for most or all Host stations (before and after rebuilds).
English

@timothyjweber @declanmartin75 Could be. Also all the Swanston St tram routes are a bit messy at the moment due to works. yarratrams.com.au/service-change…
English

@danielbowen @declanmartin75 I believe it was a ghost tram, sent by a higher power to bring me home in my sorry state.
English

Any idea why I just boarded the 0 instead of the 72? I’ll concede it’s almost 2.30am, I wasn’t expecting anything to be running on this line. @declanmartin75 @aussiewongm @danielbowen @ptua

English

@declanmartin75 @timothyjweber The final 72 on a Sat night reaches Camberwell just after 2am, then runs back to the depot. Scheduled 2:06am, but might have been a bit late? Yep should been showing 72d.
English

@timothyjweber Should probably say 72d.

@Domluckman05 @BrillOBuffalo @Joshua47536247 @aussiewongm Extra trains is good, but they are every 20 minutes on top of a 10 minute frequency, so you still have a 50% chance of being on a packed train.

@OllyMann @retrospectorshq Love the show!
Not sure what the audio equivalent of a typo is, but at around 6:30 there's mention of *South* Korea helping Iran...?
English

22 years ago today: George W Bush first uttered the phrase 'Axis of Evil', lumping together three countries with very different axes to grind against the United States (Iran, North Korea and Iraq) under one 'terrorist' umbrella 👇

@build_beaut I think the most telling reason why it’s better is how basically *all* major syd shopping centres are co-located with train stations, Melbourne is extremely behind in that regard (@danielbowen has a really good piece on this)
English

@aussiewongm @PierreVairo @ivanxieau @MaribyrnongCC I think Pierre is right though - "fix" in this case would mean "put it back on the footpath".
English

@PierreVairo @danielbowen @ivanxieau @MaribyrnongCC I'm sure if the sign "fell" into a traffic lane they'd fix it quick smart.
English

Pedestrian facilities are a joke.
Had to move this heavy sign over in order to fit my pram through the gap.

—@sam_holler
@PierreVairo Current footpath is tragic. Complete affront to pedestrians.
English

@PierreVairo @ivanxieau @MaribyrnongCC Lucky it’s not a spot with huge safety issues hey.

@ivanxieau @danielbowen @MaribyrnongCC I tend to agree😔
Maybe people who travel in cars on Hopkins St are more important than people who travel on Hopkins with prams/wheelchairs?
English

@NickSugarbaker @funkineering @ptua FSS/SXS concourse crowding is a big problem that they need to fix, but the narrow platforms at Flagstaff are absolutely an issue for crowds.
It's inconvenient, but having people walk to FSS/SXS also spreads the load after the fireworks.
English

Big events like New Year's Eve in Melbourne are only possible thanks to public transport. But severe crowding and long waits to enter stations last night after the fireworks indicate authorities need to do better at keeping crowds moving. youtube.com/watch?v=QnuPcx…

@hippychicky55 @JessTheReader @aussiewongm @MelbOnTransit @julianoshea Have you seen the dimensions/specs listed here? transportnsw.info/travel-info/us…
English

@JessTheReader @aussiewongm @MelbOnTransit @danielbowen @julianoshea Thanks. Found a few images in my google search. Decided the evening we arrive that we will test out the trains and trams on foot so can see how they look. We are staying right next to central station so is short walk for either service. also we see the size the scooter I hired is

Better bus services, especially in middle and outer suburbs that are crying out for decent public transport, would get people out of their cars, providing relief from the traffic and saving households thousands of dollars a year. ptua.org.au/2023/12/08/bus…

@TrueBelievers15 If only they’d duplicated Mooroolbark to Lilydale while they were there so we could actually use the extra capacity.
