Tackling “the Jewish Question” is as American as bacon and eggs, cheeseburgers, and apple pie. 🇺🇸
Every patriot with two eyes, a brain, and a heart will endeavor to defend his nation from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

@KorahSons He was so heavy into the JQ that I remember a letter written by Henry Ford saying something to the effect of “Charles came over. All he did was talk about the Js.”

Since “testimonial” culture is getting lots of play, anyone who has led a halfway normal life ends up sounding like this.

@jaysonyork Couldn’t dare call it “(Saint so-and-so or biblical virtue or Hebrew word or place) (denomination) church” cos um… well that’s Catlick.

Unpopular pastoral opinion #18
The modern method of naming churches is so, so dumb
The Well
Energize Church
Water’s Edge (I’ve lived this one)
I don’t know the solution exactly, but I also know that these seem so contrived and fake

@dissidntdad I’m going to get shit on for this but a lot of brands have sold their name to sell at Costco, etc. Dumb, yes. But you can still buy Pendleton products made in the US, probably at a Pendleton store (do those exist?) or directly from the manufacturer.
English

imagine being one of the most iconic American wool clothing companies, you proudly include “Pendleton Woolen Mills” since 1863 on the tag, and then have at the bottom hanging off like a skin tag “Made in Indonesia.” How could not feel ashamed for created such a product?

Everywhere I look, I see opportunity—162 years of American heritage, Made in Indonesia. Every brand dependent on offshore manufacturing is a potential partner of Anatar.

@GenericSnarky Damn, bro is annoying but I might have to drop a follow for that one this is gold

@LutheranSage It’s just Christianese. Using Christianity as a cheap marketing ploy. Don’t overthink it.

Am I the only one who sells my used cars for like $500 anymore?
I swear, when I unloaded my kid’s starter cars, I’d just be like, “I don’t know, you got $500 cash?”
I mean, I get that sometimes every dollar matters for some.
But I’m always just thinking, “if it gets you to work for a few months or more, you can basically have it.”
But I see the same kind of cars on lawns for like $1,500-$2,000.
It’s nuts.
Be generous. Help someone out who maybe REALLY needs it.

@AubreyRavenwood @HonestYPTweets @EWErickson I call it 7-11 music, it’s the same 7 words and they sing them 11 times in the chorus.
English

@HonestYPTweets @EWErickson All new “worship” music is just awful. The words are shallow and they all last 4 minutes. I can’t stand them. Stick with Hymns, much more powerful

The label “heretic” gets thrown around way too easily these days. If you profess the Nicene Creed & the Apostles’ Creed, you count as a legitimate Christian. Period.
Christians will always disagree about important political & social issues and matters of doctrine. But at the end of the day, if someone affirms the essential truths outlined in the creeds, they are not heretics or apostates. 🎙️Holy Post 670 with @philvischer, @skyejethani & @kaitlynschiess

@MrJPE @OGBURGKATHOLIK Many of the LCMS churches in my county (there are probably over 15) have women lay lectors. Funny enough, I looked one of them up on a day where the epistle reading was 1 Tim 2 expecting to get a chuckle, they opted to celebrate the movable feast day that has different readings!
English

@OGBURGKATHOLIK Is this a thing going on in the LCMS? I’ve never heard a woman read scripture, or anything during a Devine Service at any of the LCMS churches I’ve gone to.
English

Lutheran friends only, I have a genuine question out of curiosity, and I’m only asking out of curiosity, not intending to create divide or be contentious.
Does anyone know the exact reason why women are allowed to publicly read the daily scriptures at the divine service of Paul says this..
“For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.”
— 1 Corinthians 14:33-35
I’m genuinely curious what the Lutheran understanding of this is, because it would seem to me that public reading of scripture would be encompassed in this command for silence.
Again as I stated, I’m not asking this out of malice, I’m just curious. I’m not bothered by women reading the scriptures.
I’d prefer to hear actual historic interpretations from our theologians, not opinions please.

@jaysonyork My toddler is a source of immense frustration in Sunday worship for my wife and I and yet I can’t imagine handing him over to a nursery or sending him to some kind of children’s programming.
English

Unpopular pastoral opinion #2
Removing teens and children from the worship gathering or teaching settings for their own groups has been a net negative for the fortification and mission of the church.
There are positives, there are negatives. Overall, it’s been an L.
English

@jaysonyork There was Sunday school and then you went to church service with your parents
