@NathanABinford @AmandaMGoetz This is wonderful advice. To add to it, house hunt when it rains. Going into houses then will allow you to see how it holds up. Easier to see any potential leaks.

I’m 39 and never owned a house. I spent 20 years in Chicago, NYC and now Miami. After learning my rent was increasing 18%, I decided it’s time to invest my money. Today I’m going house hunting with a realtor in the suburbs. (never thought I’d live in the suburbs) What advice do you have when looking at 6 different houses in one day?!

@vincenzolandino One other thing… starting the race earlier in the night so most of the US can actually watch it. Start it at 8 PM PST and you have sooooo many more eyeballs.

@heyalexfriedman Property taxes in Texas are not as wild as you think as long as you apply for the homestead exemption. Homestead exemptions will decrease the assessed value of your home and the assessed value can’t increase more than 10%.

I’m starting to not see the point in buying a house anymore. - Most houses I’ve looked at are over valued. - Property taxes (in Texas) are wild. - I have to maintain everything. - Mortgage would be more than my rent. - No guarantee value would increase. - Less amenities than a luxury apartment. Am I crazy for feeling this way? I feel crazy for feeling this way.

@graceclarke Hi new dad here! My wife and I have a 6-week old. It’s hard (we’re running on no sleep), but so very rewarding. The joy outweighs the bad, I am more in love with my partner with each passing day. Like everything in life, you figure it out, adapt and enjoy.

Unpopular opinion: Having children sounds terrifying. As if I’d lose myself, my relationship, and my career. Yet everyone seems to do it. Are you all happy? Happy mostly when they’re older and you have people to come home for Thanksgiving? I wish people would honestly reply
