Every month, slop company @RocketOTD charges a $65 late fee on my mortgage even though it’s paid and the balance shows $0. I have to waste ~an hour to call in and correct them because online services can’t correct that. What a mess!

Last week, former State Senator Sonya Jaquez Lewis was sentenced to probation and community service after being convicted of four felonies including Attempt to Influence a Public Official. She made a horrible mistake, and she was wrong. I hope she learns from this and can rebuild her life. As someone who has known Sonya as a friend for many years, on a personal level I was glad to hear she isn’t going to prison which is a hard place for anyone, no less a retired 68-year old pharmacist. But it is not lost on me that she was convicted of the exact same felony charge as Tina Peters — attempting to influence a public official — and yet Tina Peters, as a non-violent first time offender got a nine year sentence. Justice in Colorado and America needs to be applied evenly, you never know when you might need to depend on the rule of law. This is the context I am using as I consider cases like this that have sentencing disparities, which is why I have extended the deadline for clemency applications until April 3rd. I will be making decisions on these cases throughout the remainder of my governorship.

This should scare everyone. The Trump admin revoked Mahmoud’s legal status, kidnapped him, and is now holding him in an ICE detention facility without any due process. Trump is an authoritarian, testing the limits to see how much he can get away with. He won’t stop here.

Israel is not an apartheid state, and there is no occupation in Gaza. Gabriel is dead wrong, but I respect him for having a thoughtful, deeply held moral position. How we treat each other matters; it matters a lot

@CooknColorado My mom was one of these Americans, and I have two points: 1. She was held there by an international blockade led by Israel, in violation of international law. 2. The US state department was useless during the month-long ordeal she was stuck in Gaza. MSF got her out.

This directly blames innocent people for the actions of others, and justifies killing civilians and war crimes. This is a vile thing to say when children are being killed by a right-wing government, and frankly is the same rhetoric that terrorists use.

@PolicyJosh What you said is “you lost your credibility”, which is an opinion. The “fact” you’re sharing here was not in your original tweet, and is also not a fact. Many people I know believe that phrase means the free movement of all people through the region, which does not exist now.

Palestinian comes from the Greek word for Philistines. Notice that the Philistines are locate around Gaza (what they have now and notice the Jewish Kingdoms, including one called Israel. You have a few city-states, not a kingdom, not a country and they disappeared around the 8th Century BC.

@Salt__Radio @injunjohn86 @elisabethepps Palestinians also have lived to the region for millennia; many trace their ancestry back to Phoenicia. There are populations who speak Aramaic just as Jesus did. Having ancestral ties to a place does not give you the right to violently oppress people.

Do you really think the military doesn’t have chefs and buffets and a dining area? The only soldiers I’ve known to eat MREs do it for a laugh. This is not the same food.

These are meals carefully and scientifically designed to provide complete nutrition (all essential vitamins and nutrients), and a large amount of calories in a small shelf-stable package (no refrigeration). This is the same food fed to our own US soldiers on deployment to provide them with the energy to fight.

It’s basically random calories to keep them from dying. This isn’t the aid that’s needed. And keeping Gazans barely alive so that your bombs can finish them off isn’t humanitarian. It’s evil.

A right-wing Israeli mob came to my family’s home yesterday to search for me, threatening close family members who fled to another town in the middle of the night. I am still getting death threats and had to cancel my flight home. This happened after Israeli media and German politicians absurdly labeled my Berlinale award speech - where I called for equality between Israelis and Palestinians, a ceasefire and an end to apartheid - as ‘antisemitic’. The appalling misuse of this word by Germans, not only to silence Palestinian critics of Israel, but also to silence Israelis like me who support a ceasefire that will end the killing in Gaza and allow the release of the Israeli hostages - empties the word antisemitism of meaning and thus endangers Jews all over the world. As my grandmother was born in a concentration camp in Libya and most of my grandfather’s family was murdered by Germans in the holocaust, I find it particularly outraging that German politicians in 2024 have the audacity to weaponize this term against me in a way that endangered my family. But above all else, this behavior puts Palestinian co-director Basel Adra’s life in danger, who lives under a military occupation surrounded by violent settlements in Masafer Yatta. He is in far greater danger than I am. I’m happy our award winning film, No Other Land, is sparking an important international debate on this issue - and I hope that millions of people watch it when it comes out this year. Sparking a conversation is why we made it. You can have harsh criticism of what me and Basel said on stage without demonizing us. If this is what you’re doing with your guilt for the holocaust - I don’t want your guilt.
