@danothemano77 @PrudentThinquer @Apologetics941 If He was a con man, wouldn't they match exactly word for word? Why would he risk people not believing him by having so many differences? It doesn't match because they are not the same thing. One is a translation of a record, and one is an inspired alteration of a record.

I would like to know why the book of Moroni (supposedly written in the 400 AD on another continent) is quoting Paul the Apostle.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I often find myself at a disadvantage when interacting with critics of the Church. At first I thought it was because I was lacking skills in debate, knowledge about my Faith, or was inadequate at expressing myself in a public forum. So I went to work. I studied my Religion more. I started watching religious debates and listening to podcasts. I started expressing my thoughts and opinions more in public. I asked questions. I sought answers. And I eventually realized I’ll always be at a disadvantage when interacting with critics, for three reasons; 1. Critics of The Church of Jesus Christ are willing to intentionally undermine and destroy my Faith in Jesus Christ and His Restored Gospel. I’m not willing to intentionally undermine anyone’s Faith. I think we have far more in common than we do differences. 2. Critics spend a lot more time studying my Religion and its history than I do, or have time to. While I’ve been working to build my relationship with Jesus Christ, raise my kids, invest in my family, and work to pay my bills, they’ve been compiling all the things they think prove I’m wrong in my beliefs. I can’t match that kind of hyper-focus with the limited time I have. 3. While I’m willing to look at, read, and study things that might conflict with my religious world-view, Critics of the Church are not. They will continually insist I’m wrong while refusing to entertain or look at any information that would challenge their assumed world view. Critics also don’t have much to offer outside of their criticisms. Whenever I ask for an alternative to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I get a few generic answers, like “Biblical Christianity”, “a relationship with the REAL Jesus”, “I can’t offer you anything”, or “it’s not my place to guide you to a viable alternative”. I never get an invite to a church, an offer to study, or a program to look into. It’s always “abandon your faith!” Without offering a suitable replacement.

Past? President Oaks has referred to communism as “godless” and President Nelson referred to it as a “yoke”. While that’s not as direct as President Kimball had been, it does not mean the warnings are unnecessary or that communism is acceptable. If anything, the tone indicates a need for a more respectful dialogue so that the church may prosper even under such oppressive regimes - while still clearly pointing out the major dangers of that ideology.
