@cyclops_psyops Fair, I do think the whole affair has not been handlevery well by both blocks. I hope we can resolve and find compromise in the organization and chart a sensible path forward.

uncaucused, DSA centrist (me) take of takes: There isn't another candidate, and we should all get on board if AOC is clear and adopt's Claire's position on an arm's embargo, rather than the J-Street position that "israel can pay for the iron dome thesmelves". Deliberation also...

@cyclops_psyops I fear that regardless of chapter size members will choose to organize w aoc regardless of endorsement status. I do not believe writing off those members as undisciplined or w/e label is the best for the org. I hope aoc chooses a path that makes endorsement a slam dunk for dsa.

matters a lot in chapters because the larger chapters, in larger cities, will already go for AOC. Its the smaller chapters in smaller cities where the fights will be harder. Deliberating will define the path towards 1M DSA members & 100 congressional candidates & how to get there

The DFW metroplex is the fourth-largest in the country, home to some of the nation's wealthiest reactionaries—and almost no organized left. So what happens when socialists pick a fight there? Peter Y. argues that in a progressive void this deep, the task is not to tail the Democrats, but to find the lines of rupture they won't touch and state plainly what socialist governance stands for. give comrades grace and time, it's ultimately good people are invested and feel strongly about DSA's well-being. it's a very young organization, and we really need to develop some perspective fast. our reality is harsh and won't be kind to us if we can't meet it

Paper members are indistinguishable from what socialist parties in other countries would just call party members and you can’t change my mind about this

@PippengerHarlo @KawasakiRoo Double post but we do actually have data. To contextualize only about 30-40% of people can name the senators from their own state. So 25% national isn't actually that low.

@KawasakiRoo Yeah i didn’t say that he wasn’t influential or anything but honestly what do you think Bernie’s national name recognition was in 2014?

i hate & regret getting in fights on here anymore. just genuinely feel bummed out sometimes. the widespread distrust within DSA toward “paper members,” justified or not, is a problem in the way of our development into a real mass party, and we need to solve for it urgently.

Here is @TxDOT 's goals for congestion relief for 2027, 2028, 2029, 2030. Bigger number is bad, its the amount of delay experienced. It seems like the DOT is expecting, even after spending billions and billions on roads, that delay will still get worse: txdot.app.box.com/s/bxr03bp5kq04…

the liberal progressive mind is a wonder. and maybe he expands on it in the broader interview, but the fact here there’s no critical intervention in the reality that joining america’s racist death-cult is one of the few avenues of achieving economic mobility, is incredible

As a result of the Trump administration’s efforts to strip diversity from the military ranks, some Black Americans may lose “one of the most effective means of achieving a different level of socioeconomic status,” @ClintSmithIII tells @AdamHSays. @KDicupe @UtilityCalc Morena was an association born out of a large number of members of the pdr and progressive block breaking and forming a new party. They had an electoral base before they split. DSA does not have nearly a comparable block to split like morena did.

@UtilityCalc Well I know where the mexican left currently is: in power. Using the same strategy I'm advocating for and the one you're condescendingly shitting on. Id appreciate it if you stopped speaking to me like we're in yr 10 of your strategy taking federal power because you're not.

Might be that DSA is just not a space for anyone whose not a downwardly mobile middle-class dem soldier. We'll see but there will have to be a serious leftwing contingency that wants to build working class independent structures eventually in this country.

It’s funny that when voter guides are put into question detractors say: “well, if they know about DSA then they’re already probably tapped in enough to have a friend that can tell them who to vote for”. Is this really the precedent we want to set as an org? To refuse our organizational tasks on the basis that somebody who’s more willing to take accountability for our political goals may do them for us? This surely can’t be the MO of the revolutionary party.
🫪Generic Democrat Ballot🫪@dimitrovhimself

@mxllysworld @harbingerofwoke Are you saying we shouldn't do voter guides but every dsa member should become a personal voter guide to whoever asks?

To negate the necessity of voter guides only to then tell people to “vote their conscience” if there’s no DSA endorsed candidate is political cowardice of the highest degree and goes against everything DSA stands for as a project. The people are looking at us for answers in this crisis, and we tell them to vote their conscience and stop asking us for guidance? If DSA is gonna become a nationally hegemonic political force it will only be because every time the people ask us a question, no matter how inconvenient or how few DSA candidates there are to make it an easy answer, we can guide with confidence and clarity, mobilizing them towards the next stage of struggle. Parsing through that which is “convoluted” is exactly what makes DSA unique as a project. If we wanted it to be easy we’d be liberals lol now’s not the time to avoid the convoluted but to double down. The way is not around struggle but only *through*
Honda Wang 王宏达@HondaWang

@MagThePig too convoluted + does not align with our electoral strategy! vote dsa-endorsed candidates and if you don't live in the district, then vote your conscience.
