MORE details on US strikes vs Iranian targets today: 2 Iranian boats were caught laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz, senior US official tells me. The US military eliminated both IRGC vessels and also struck at a SAM (surface to air missile) site in Bandar Abbas that was targeting US warplanes. “These were defensive strikes.” They do not indicate ceasefire is over, according to two well placed sources.
Jennifer Griffin@JenGriffinFNC

CENTCOM spox Capt Tim Hawkins to Fox: “U.S. forces conducted self-defense strikes in southern Iran today to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces. Targets included missile launch sites and Iranian boats attempting to emplace mines. U.S. Central Command continues to defend our forces while using restraint during the ongoing ceasefire.”

CT capitalized on lower taxes back in the day. Foolishly gave up the advantage.
WDMoor@wdmoor

@RonDeSantis I blame young boomers. We fled NY for CT to take advantage of their lower taxes then promptly voted in politicians who never met a tax they didn't want to raise or impose.

Good luck. CT has a great coastline and nice scenery/topography. Just need taxpayer-friendly policies like it used to have back in the day.

@RonDeSantis It will also be hard to cut taxes and electric rates to bring the jobs and families we lost to Florida back to Connecticut—but we’re going to fight like hell to do it here! @ConnecticutYR

NEW: Connecticut has fallen further in the bottom 10 of the U-Haul Migration Study. We are one of just a few states losing more families than we are gaining. After seven years of Gov. Lamont and large @CTDems majorities, people are hurting and many are fleeing the state. Gov. Lamont ran for office on the promise of "turning the moving vans around." His words. He didn't. Our state leadership has NO excuse. Two terms of economic failure, high taxes, and energy bills are enough. CT could succeed like no other state with a positive change in leadership. That's what our campaign will deliver.

Where is the crisis that required the Frankenstein housing bill to pass in an emergency session with no public input? @GovNedLamont satisfied his left flank by signing. Now he’s trying to win the general by not implementing, and yet the towns have to implement. Make sense? #nokings ctpost.com/connecticut/ar…

We are hearing from residents in #Connecticut that they are calling @GovNedLamont's office to ask him to veto HB8002, and they are being told in not such a nice way that the bill does not "override local zoning." We urge the Governor to read the bill. #DoBetter #NoKings

Incremental change is what our system of government encourages. It discourages, by design, radicalism and sweeping revisions to the status quo in the absence of overwhelming consensus. You want “solutions” as “big as the problems,” you’ll have to persuade people of your vision. If that’s your gripe, it’s very much a you problem.
CSPAN@cspan

Sen. @ChrisMurphyCT: "The problem is this party has been addicted to incremental change, solutions that aren't are big as the problems that people face, and it is part of what has made us illegitimate in major parts of this country."

Indeed. Thank you, @Ct169S 🇺🇸

Elections have consequences. We have always said so. If you focus on national "KINGS" and do not recognize the "KINGS" at state level, you are missing the point. With a 2/3 supermajority, the Majority will brute force HB8002. Until #Connecticut addresses a legacy media that pushes the Majority's narratives, not facts and does not hold the Majority accountable for their ineffective policies that have Local Property Taxes and Energy Cost are 3rd highest in the U.S. Solving for a lack of housing with reckless zoning overrides is not an effective way forward. #NoKings

Senate Timing For Final Vote Unclear. House Aiming to Tackle the Bill Wednesday We are not expecting a final vote on the revamped GOP spending bill in the Senate overnight.   Final passage of the bill will need a time agreement to expedite things in the Senate. Fox is told it’s possible the Senate could finalize an agreement and vote as early as tomorrow.   It will need a simple majority in the Senate to pass.   And frankly, that final vote is rather anticlimatic considering what happened tonight in the Senate.   Then it’s on to the House.   A senior House Republican source tells Fox the aim is for the House to return on Wednesday and do a one-day and out – provided there are no hiccups.   The government is on a glidepath to re-opening later this week. But it will still take a few days. And as of this moment, the government is still very much shut down

The Senate voted 60-40 to overcome a filibuster on a new GOP spending plan to end the government shutdown.   This means an end to the shutdown is now inevitable in the coming days.   The Senate needed 60 yeas to break a filibuster.   Eight senators who caucus with the Democrats have voted to break the filibuster:   They are Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Sens. Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Tim Kaine (D-VA), Angus King (I-ME), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), Jacky Rosen (D-NV), John Fetterman (D-PA).   There was one GOP no: Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY). The Senate may not pass the overall bill until tomorrow or later this week. Then it’s on to the House. So the shutdown is not over yet

Our petition is catching on statewide! Contact YOUR legislators and @GovNedLamont ct169strong.org/petition-2025 Over 40% of municipalities statewide are represented! The false premise by Majority Leaders that this is just "Fairfield County" pushing back on bad statewide policy mandates is debunked! These is enough unworkable policy in the 91 pages of the bill for all municipalities to reject it. Let's go CT - let's get ALL 169 municipalities to stand 169 STRONG and send a petition to legislators in Hartford and Governor Lamont. Have friend, relative in any of the missing towns and cities? 📣📣Share this petition with them! It's GO time.

— a description similar to elements of the portion of the old bill known as Work, Live, Ride. He said the state will provide regional councils of government with planners who have “the skills they need to work with the towns” and to work “as a region.”

“I want to do everything I can to make it easier and faster for developers to build. I want towns to take the lead,” he said. new bill aims to have towns select areas to “pre-zone” for more housing, such as locations close to public transit..”
