Our government is moving forward with a brand new Cardston Health Centre, a modern facility that will deliver faster emergency care, better services, and improved access for families across southern Alberta. Alberta has a long history of welcoming newcomer to our province, so they can help grow our economy and build a better life for themselves. But it has to be done right. That means sustainable numbers, real job opportunities, and the supports people need to succeed. We’re committed to building an immigration system that works for both Albertans and newcomers. That will always be my message.

Alberta Premier Peter Lougheed insisted it be included to protect the autonomy of provinces to uphold the values and priorities of the people they represent from decisions of activist courts. In Alberta, we have used it carefully and lawfully to stand up for the parental right to be involved in their children’s lives, to protect children so they can make important health decisions as adults, to ensure fairness in sport, and to keep students learning in the classroom. We are extremely disappointed that Minister Sean Fraser would risk national unity and a foundational principle of our constitution by attempting to attack the use of the notwithstanding clause by sovereign provincial governments.
