@ianoriordan Has it though? Is it any different to the c 5-10% leap tennis and golf made in the 80s/90s when composite materials replaced wooden racquets/drivers etc? It’s not like there’s 3 min miles or 1:45 marathons all of a sudden.

@TheNumbersGael That will just drive huge amounts of cynical fouling outside the arc. A team 2 ahead in the dying seconds will just drag down anyone getting near a 2 pt shot. Surely a proposal to be considered is that only frees from the hand are considered for 2 pointers?

My tuppence on this. Placed ball kicks should be one point irrespective of where they are from. The fact that 45s remained just one point was a tacit acknowledgement that there's a world of difference between kicking from distance under pressure, and from dead ball.

@tonyleen Played it last week, first time in 15 years. Layout still immense but the diggers are already in and the wow was gone. All but 2 holes being demolished for the new layout. Sad to see when Pat Ruddy put his soul into developing a masterpiece

I have reported this graffiti on the lane way from Clonard to Sandyford Road to the Council for removal. This lane is a repeated graffiti blackspot with a lot of money spent on removal and repairing. I’ll be putting a motion at our next meeting for more targeted action on known graffiti black spots like this one. If you know of any graffiti black spots in our area, please let me know. #Local #Community #Graffiti

Garry Ringrose hasn't got a test cap for the Lions. He was selected for the 2nd test. But voluntarily withdrew with concussion. It maybe one of the bravest thing a rugby player has ever done.

@gregallenRTE 3, 4, 5 and 6 is as good a run of 4 holes as you’d find “almost” anywhere…I always wondered would it find a better place as a stunning 12 holer and drop some of the weak ones (1, 9, 10, 15, 17…). Either way, a cracking place to play

@GAAjuggernaut Stick top 12 teams into one league, 11 games each from March through end of May. Top 8 make all Ireland series, top 2 from each province play provincial finals. AI QFs are seeded on league position, with home advantage to prov winners and highest ranked. Semis in Croker.

Serious conversations need to be had about scrapping the provincials in hurling. Would begrudgingly have to lose muster as a result but Leinster is falling further and further behind. Some very good teams in Munster like clare and Waterford have early summers, none of it adds up.

@MikeMoynihanEx Brought my 6 year old down from Dublin to the game, his current Cork jersey gone too small for him. No “hats flags scarves and headbands” hawkers like you do everywhere else for some red. If there was official retailer I probably would have bought him a jersey. Massuve gap there

Met someone this morning who made an interesting point: there were probably 35,000 Cork hurling fans I Pairc Ui Chaoimh yesterday, the definition of a captive audience. And nowhere to buy a jersey, hat or scarf.

@MidwestGolfJake 6500 breaks down as 4*500yd 5s, 10*390yd 4s, 4*150yd 3s. Rory is playing 8iron into all the 5s, lob wedge into the 4s and PW into the 3s. If his putter is warm he 2 has eagles and 8 birds for 60. The handicappers might get to 65ish but if Rory putts he wins comfortably

100 Men vs 1 Gorilla? That's not the question we need answered! Could a foursome of 10 handicaps playing a scramble beat Rory McIlroy on a 6500 yard, par 72 course with a 72.0 rating and a 125 slope? That's the real question the world needs answered!

@gregallenRTE @GolfIreland_ For regular comps clubs should just have 4 prizes for first in each “flight”. Equal prizes. If a 36 handicapper has 49 points great, they get the same prize as the 6 index who had 41pts. For majors you must be off 18 or better, or drop to 18. Have a captains plate for 19 and up.

Have consulted @GolfIreland_ about these arrangements among single figure players. The longer the current system impedes low h’cap players, the more side bets & informal pooled comps will be chosen as an alternative option. WHS hasn’t ‘settled’. And it won’t without intervention.
Fergie Mac@FergusPMcGrath

@gregallenRTE @GolfIreland_ Step in the right direction. Haven’t played a singles comp. for almost a year (7 h/c). 12 of us throw a fiver in each Saturday & Sunday, and play for 60 quid. First gets €40 - second gets €20. If I could have 48 points in any comp., I’d have been playing in Augusta last Sunday!

@mattpollitt83 @DFrankcom So you think Nico lined up to have the best hurdler of a generation smack a hurdle and crash to the turf at 35mph, because Hills and PPs would lose millions if he got around and won? And Nicky and the owners agreed with this plan. Lads. Maybe he fell because the earth is flat…

Never see 12s moved to 9. 13s moved to 9. 15s moved to 9. But for some reason, moving any of the above to 10 can work. 9 and 10 both highly specialised positions.

Could someone explain the rules for the 3rd French try, pass from DuPont looked at least 2 yards forward. I know that French tv don’t show replays but surely the TMO seen it or maybe it’s allowed.

@1paulmcel @JoeNaConnacht Yes the ball went forward, but it went backwards relative to DuPont, which is the only thing that matters, so therefore it’s not a forward pass

@hewantswealth This is utter nonsense. Using your own maths then 64 is rookie numbers. Just take 29 Fridays off during the year, assuming you have 8 public holiday Mondays where you’d get a 4 day weekend then you get 95 “days off”.

@Mullins77David I had a similar experience, waiting 8 months which included a 5 nighter in James’s for intense pain, discharged with no surgery as I wasn’t emergency. Was told I could be another year waiting. Out of the blue got a call offering me a date in Blackrock clinic in a week.
