Wendy Duffy, 56, a former care worker from the West Midlands, is travelling to the Pegasos clinic in Basel today to end her life. Her only son Marcus, 23, died four years ago after choking on a cherry tomato while asleep on the sofa. Wendy says the grief has become completely unbearable and no amount of therapy or medication has helped. She has paid £10,000 of her life savings for the procedure and said “I want to die, and that’s what I’m going to do. My life; my choice.” Her family support her heartbreaking decision even though they are devastated to lose her. She has asked for her ashes to be scattered at the park bench where she used to sit every night talking to Marcus.
