@daveberkeleyuk @valmcbeath @metoffice The longevity of the record is not the same thing as the siting quality of the weather station. You can have a long record of low quality, junk data. Being long doesn't make it any good. Airstrips have multiple man-made heat sources that cause higher temperature measurements.

We have provisionally broken the UK record for highest daily minimum temperature in May... again 😮 Temperatures didn't fall below 21.3°C overnight at Kenley Airfield, making it a 'tropical night' (no lower than 20°C). Remarkably, the record was also broken yesterday.

@ghhughes I've done similar to a number of subcontractors that I've later applied to work for. It doesn't help. It should improve my chances but it doesn't.

@ghhughes Automated test are great. I once wrote some software to simulate unplugging & plugging in boards in a redundant control system. They'd been paying a subcontractor thousands to do this manually every week. My tests found several faults straight away.

I've got two force gauges now and I can race the strap tension of two different masks at the same time. But it's a slow race. This is a 40-hour test at 2.5 x stretch. The two different 9205+ Aura masks are from different lots, but one pair of measurements does not establish a trend. This test will help establish whether or not I really need to test statically for 40 hours, or if I can get pretty much the same relative data from shorter time periods.

@Yoda001 My friend lived in a 15 minute city. He once went 17 minutes outside the city and the radius police showed up, fined him £20,000 and gave him a 2 year suspended sentence. I haven't seen him in 12 years now. Really makes you think.

So Oxford UK is to become a 15 minute city in August. Do people realise what a 15 minue City is?????? Do you realise they need a pass to leave it, even to go to work???? Anyone who says "summers have always been like this" is lying. Night time averages are up. Day time averages are up. Highest temperatures are up. Lowest temperatures are up. Heatwaves are higher and cover more area. The deniers are liars.

A huge heat dome is sitting over France, with temperatures that might hit 40°C. It’s still spring. It’s still May. What was once considered “extreme” is increasingly becoming normal across Europe. Heatwaves are earlier, longer, & pushing ecosystems and health beyond limits.
