@TajHotels Why is your reservation team constantly hanging up after taking the confirmation number? We're trying to change our booking but at this point we just want to cancel. Is this a way to do business for a prestigious hotel chain?

Docker is a good solution to a stupid problem (languages that do not produce a shippable output). It should not really exist though. Languages should just fix themselves so that they do produce a shippable artifact instead.

@tanay_mehta @mandeepabagga @prerat Is this ratio going down with newer models? As in training becoming more efficient? Or have we given up on that because buying hardware is cheaper?

@mandeepabagga @prerat +1 Thanks for raising this point. Even for Llama, the tokens to params ratio is somewhere close to 1800:1 instead of 20:1

ok so all of the wikipedia text is ~25 GB (compressed) can a 25B parameter model reliably remember pretty much ~all the facts in wiki? if not, how many params does it take? 2x? 10x? is it possible it's less than 1x?

@mitchellh I cannot agree more. These candidates are recruiters wet dream but unfortunately they don’t care about their online presence or visibility in the marketplace so they are very hard to find. You can only really find them through working with them or local networking events

This is going to be ironic coming from me but the best software engineers I've ever worked with and that you can ever hire are the ones with no online presence, no GitHub activity, and spent the last 10 years of their life working at the most boring company you can ever imagine.

@ForrestPKnight Autocomplete, yes. All LLMs are hilariously bad at anything remotely innovative and complicated. In other news, seller of steam powered bicycles thinks steam powered bicycles are cool.

@MatthewBlott @dhh @EvelinaHahne Wow. I really hope thats not true. I admire this guy and his work but this post made me question whether he truly believes it. I don't want to believe he's radicalised but his silence isn't helping this thought process.

sqlite is literally a database in one file. but nah, let’s burn 2GB of ram and a postgres container just to store our shopping list.
