@PostaUganda @Posta_Ugand @Posta_Uganda just the fact that you have three handles running on X explains a lot. However, this is not why I'm writing to you. Are you aware of the vibrant online shopping community in Uganda? Jiji, for example. Plus many other online shopping platforms? And many individuals who sell their products online? Do you want to work for Ugandans? Each time an online transaction is made, there is a boda taking the product from the buyer to the seller, and a payment made either to the boda in cash, or to the seller via mobile money. Do you recognise the gap that can be filled by your courier service? Do you realise your courier can pick up the parcel, giving a receipt to the seller and a tracking number to the buyer? Then take the parcel to Posta for sorting and consolidation? Then take consolidated parcels to all Posta offices countrywide? Then last mile couriers deliver to the buyers, collect payment in cash or via merchant code? Then reconcile payments at the end of the day and remit payments to sellers, while keeping the shipping fees on Posta account? Do you realise how you can boost online businesses countrywide with organised, reliable, and guaranteed last mile delivery? Do you realise the parcels can be anything from slippers, clothing, tools, household items, to food and furniture, with guaranteed delivery within one to two days? Do you have any idea how many more businesses can spring up if they know their last mile delivery is reliably sorted? Do you have any idea how many more buyers can spring up from upcountry locations, if you give this a chance? Just think of the role you can play. Sitting on existing infrastructure and doing nothing is probably the best. Why would you, after all, add more work and earn more money? Or, even better, why would you perform your basic duty of facilitating internal communication and trade? Anyway, don't mind me. As you were.

Walk into a bond knowing this math or walk in blind. Your choice! URA tax on a used car, broken down step by step, on a 2018 Subaru Forester. Bonds in Kampala will quote you over UGX 70M for a car that landed for just UGX 55M or less. The 15M sitting between those two numbers is their margin. Below is the URA tax math that lets you see that margin coming. Save this thread.

A Nairobi lady has sued Safaricom PLC after her KSh 2,700, mistakenly sent via M-Pesa, was used to offset the recipient’s Fuliza debt. Her reversal request was declined. She has now moved to the High Court challenging that policy as unconstitutional. When I send money to someone, my intention is clear that I am transferring funds to THAT person. I am not entering into a contract with Safaricom to help them recover loans. I am not agreeing to become a guarantor. I am not volunteering to settle another adult’s overdraft. How then does my money automatically clear someone else’s debt without my consent? We must be very careful as a country not to normalise silent policies that shift financial burdens to third parties. Digital convenience should not override basic principles of fairness and property rights. Yes, the recipient may have agreed to Fuliza terms. But I did not.And this is the core issue. If money is mistakenly sent and reversal is denied because it has already been swallowed by a debt recovery system, then we are creating a dangerous precedent one where corporations quietly prioritise loan recovery over consumer protection. At the very least, there should be a clear warning before completing a transaction:“The recipient has an outstanding Fuliza balance. Funds may be used to offset debt. Proceed?” This case is bigger than 2,700 shillings. It is about how far automated financial systems can go without violating basic rights.

@TheMutambuze BUT this also is a comparison as you are made in the image of God, bear the image of God so likewise Jesus was announcing that you belong to God and thus should give to God what belongs to God which is yourself!!!

I thought I had understood Jesus, but I honestly think I hadn’t. When the Pharisees tried to trick Jesus by asking whether it’s right to pay taxes, he asked them whose face was on the coin. He told them to give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and to God what belongs to God. It occurred to me yesterday: the coin literally belonged to Caesar. Basically, if you are using Caesar's coins to trade, you aren’t much different from someone who uses Caesar's land. You are both tenants who must pay rent. If you use the King's money for trade and don't pay his taxes/rent, you are essentially stealing from the system you opted into. Philosophically, it makes you wonder if purely barter trade is the only true way to escape Caesar's system altogether! Be blessed.
