3-Year-Old Emerges Safely from Overturned Car Following State Police Pursuit JOINER, Arkansas — On the afternoon of May 2, 2026, along State Highway 118 in Joiner, Mississippi County, Arkansas, Arkansas State Police released video showing a 3-year-old boy emerging from an overturned Dodge Charger after a pursuit ended in a crash. According to the Arkansas State Police incident report, the pursuit began when the driver, 23-year-old Thalia Jones, refused to stop for speeding. A state trooper attempted a traffic stop and used a precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver, causing the vehicle to spin and flip onto its roof. Several minutes later, as the trooper held the overturned vehicle at gunpoint while awaiting backup, Jones opened the door and released her son. The video captures the boy walking from the wreckage. The trooper is heard saying, “You’re okay. Come right here, baby. Come right here.” Jones crawled from the vehicle a short time later. Both Jones and the child were medically cleared at the scene and sustained no injuries. The boy was released to the custody of an adult who was present. The incident was reported to the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline. Jones was arrested and charged with speeding, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, endangering a child, and unauthorized use of another person’s vehicle to commit a crime.
