CPFC supporter (not fan) normal bloke stuff. Super bios - yawn. No PRONOUN required - call me what you like, responsibility over rights all day long.

@disgame23 Probably - but we don’t want that - it just reinforces the cartel and the Pyramid never gets challenged. More plastic global brands for kids to suck pro rather than local football clubs.

@Lusa42874 @JeremyCordite @waitrose fair cop, Ok - tell me then. But this is not an isolated incident - we are talking about a wider principle and an epidemic in our society.

@Lusa42874 @JeremyCordite @waitrose You nutcase - by doing this Waitrose put everyone in wider society in more danger. It’s not about asking employees to fight thieves it’s about not sacking the ones that care. You send out a message that it’s ok to be a scum bag and and everything deteriorates.

I hear ya, but the answer is law change, increased police presence, public humiliation of thieves and government level changes and a bunch of other obvious stuff. Security with more powers? Who knows, but the answer isn't to encourage shelf stackers to get hands on, it isn't worth it on any level and someone will get hurt or worse

@twitarggggg @gazrfc900 @BasilTheGreat @waitrose The issue here is the Waitrose employee should not have been sacked anymore than one should be sacked for not getting involved. It’s basic common sence. Remote HR people are so far removed, and invent systems for their own purposes, finding work for themselves.

agreed, but combat-ready shelf stackers arent the answer and, generally speaking, the staff need to be well aware (which this national news will achieve) to just let the can of baked beans leave the store without putting yourself in danger (and others if the thief pulls a weapon), or you'll be fired

@twitarggggg @gazrfc900 @BasilTheGreat @waitrose I sort of get that - but it’s not about combat ready - it’s just about citizens, employees or not - being allowed to care. If you look at the cost of thieving (and it’s not just baked beans - which I love 😁) those losses get dropped on to us.

Has the world gone mad? In a more sensible era, this man would have been rewarded for being brave. Instead, Waitrose sacked him for stopping a suspected shoplifter from stealing a bag of Easter eggs. thesun.co.uk/news/38732283/…

@lemonysloft @twitarggggg @BasilTheGreat @waitrose Agreed - I have chased kids trying to steal out of coop and would do so again, if I physically could not rugby tackle them then shout and scream, tell them they are Scum - follow them, tell police where they live.

@twitarggggg @kennywhitton @BasilTheGreat @waitrose But Waitrose are NOT keeping their staff safe - they make it worse, if it’s ok to thieve, then what’s next guns and cash till hold ups - you are not looking at Macro position. By allowing it - it happens, it did not when we did not allow it…it snowballs, everyone worse off.

I agree with the scroat part of it all, but these scroats are carrying blades and who knows what else. Waitrose etc need to keep their staff safe and this will send a warning to anyone else who puts themselves in danger. I get your point, but it's just not the way. The change needs to happen at a different level, Kenny. Like I say, more power to security, make a big public example of scroats caught or just more extreme laws, but stores need to be proactively encouraging staff NOT to get involved, like they have done here. To be clear, I think it is insane how it's gotten with thievery in stores through the roof. Sure insurance cover's it, but it pushes the cost up for everyone and has turned Tesco expresses into bullet proof window, dystopian nightmares. Horrible

@twitarggggg @BasilTheGreat @waitrose I disagree - it’s not just bake beans often £30 joints of meat; anyhow that aside, if you turn a blind eye you make society more dangerous for everyone, allow thieving you allow social decay and worse crimes. It’s nothing to do with being a hero - and everything to do with caring

Unpopular take here, but stores like Waitrose cannot be seen to encourage this kind of thing. Staff are not paid enough to potentially put themselves on the line for a can baked beans, or whatever. Staff are told clearly to, at most, observe and report. Them making a hero out of this guy or not reprimanding the fact he went against orders could cause serious injury if other staff members do the same and get hurt. The changes to stop the thievery need to happen at a different level. Give security more powers and tools or at least make big examples of caught criminals

This is Walker Smith. After dedicating 17 years to Waitrose, he was recently dismissed. The reason? For attempting to stop a shoplifter nicking Easter eggs. Yes you read that right. He should be applauded, not sacked. Shameful @waitrose. Re-employ Walker Smith!

🏟️ Everything needed for work to begin is in place and the houses in Wooderson Close which are to be demolished as part of the project have been purchased and boarded up. Some logistical matters are still being dealt with but the intention remains that demolition will begin at the end of the season. @MattWoosie nytimes.com/athletic/71585…

Cancelled SKY today. Latest increase was to £108.50 just for a TV package. Sky News is unwatchable, football is akin to loose women, dramas are infested with woke virtue signalling. About 90% of channels are just fillers. They offered a reduction to £87.50. Gone after 25+ years.
