Holes that don't exist... Have you ever thought how good a hole would be from the 14th tee at Augusta to the 12th green? No? Just me then?

@dogwoodblooms Yes! The Murphy/Andrews area has a heavy Tennessee slant and feel to it. Of course you had Heath Shuler from Bryson City not too far down the road.

Did you know Carl Pickens was born in Murphy, North Carolina? Pickens attended Murphy High School, where he played free safety and wide receiver. In three seasons he intercepted 15 passes and caught 72 passes, 24 of them for touchdowns. He was named an All-American by Parade magazine in his senior year. After graduation, Pickens played college football at the University of Tennessee. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 1992. He was a standout player and earned Pro Bowl honors in 1995. Pickens left the Bengals in 1999. He played with the Titans in 2000 and announced his retirement in 2001. Today is his 56th birthday! 🎉

Watching NCAA tournament. I vaguely remember when teams ran plays? Is it just a series of ‘one on one’ competitions on each team? Carrying the ball really helps with that, too.

We were lucky enough to win two items from the Bowden Family Legacy auction. A great photo collection—but this one stands out. Definitely going on the wall.

The CBS Sports intro for the 1988 NBA Finals between the Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Lakers is pure 80s nostalgia. They don’t make intros like this anymore. 🔥

Introducing Candyroot Lodge—a new public golf destination in the South Carolina Sandhills (approximately an hour from both Charlotte and Columbia) with plans for four championship courses, a par-3 course lit for night play, wellness amenities, and on-site lodging. The first course—an 18-hole layout by Mike Koprowski, co-designer of @BroomsedgeGolf in Rembert, S.C., with Kyle Franz—will be ready for preview play in November and make its grand opening in spring 2027. The design will be “defined by extreme minimalism” taking advantage of sandy ridges and natural slopes with “intentionally small” greens. According to the club, “This is a thinker’s course—one that rewards imagination, trajectory control, and feel.” 📸: @carolina_pines_ / @candyrootlodge

I don't think younger followers and readers of ours understand that to just know the score or games, we were trained to be on certain channels at certain times for either a ticker or scheduled sports updates. Just seeing scores beyond your late local news or paper took effort!
