This one got me. I've been monitoring NASA's images and videos from Artemis II, and all the previous ones were gorgeous. This one is as well, but it's likewise bewildering. Earth is so small, and these brave people are so far away. What a fearsome adventure!

Here's a minor example of how ridiculous things are getting in terms of automotive gadget bullshit.
We have Dodge fleet trucks at work. 1500/2500/3500. You can't turn the radio off.
You can turn the volume down, you can mute it, you can darken the screen, but you can't actually turn it off. Having the radio on is not optional.
Why? I don't fucking know. Who asked for this? "Man, I really hate how I have the option to have the radio on or not in my truck. Absolve me of this decision, Dodge!"
Is it a huge deal? Not really. Would it prevent me from buying that model of truck, if it was my money? Absolutely. Because fuck you, that's why.

I hate modern cars so much. A coworker had a brand new Ford Maverick that had to go into a shop for a fucking software update. You can't avoid this shit, either. You are tracked and monitored wherever you go. This information is sent to the manufacturer and third parties. You can't opt out. You can't disable it without breaking other things. Is ChatGPT wrong? Is it as bad as it seems? FFS you can't even turn off the tire pressure monitoring system. You either live with a warning code every time you start the truck, or replace little radio transmitters in your tires every so often for as long as you own the truck, because fat fucks are too lazy to use a fucking tire gauge once a month.

5. It’s too early to tell how this will affect Weir. Weir’s set in the book industry for sure. But if PHM continues to be a runaway success (700+ million???) then he might be “too big to fail” and he’ll keep getting adaptations/work in Hollywood regardless.

Breaking: I just cleared TSA at the Atlanta Hartsfield airport in one minute.

I was running late for a flight and somehow the airport line disappeared. Meanwhile the reporters are standing around the airport looking like they lost their storyline.
Turns out when things run smoothly… there’s nothing dramatic to report.
