Many who support the Palestine cause are particularly hostile toward anyone they perceive as “pro-Israel.” What they often fail to grasp is that for most of us, this isn’t about taking one side against the other. It’s about frustration with the obvious lies and selective narratives that have kept this conflict alive for decades.
When you try to have a good-faith conversation, it’s rarely met with engagement. Instead, you’re often hit with abuse, insults and whataboutery. The reaction is emotional, tribal and instantaneous.
The real question is: where does this intensity come from? No honest observer denies that suffering exists on both sides. But a great deal of what’s been fed to Western audiences is misleading or outright false.
Take the latest video circulating online: a short, edited clip shows what appears to be Israeli forces shooting a defenseless teenager unprovoked. The full, unedited footage reveals a boy armed with a knife actively attempting to stab someone - the very people many activists rush to condemn as aggressors.
Videos like this don’t prove every incident, but when enough of them appear, they reveal a clear pattern. Selective editing, rapid propaganda and decontextualized images have become standard tools in this conflict.
Palestinian leadership and their supporters have long weaponized victimhood while downplaying or glorifying initiating violence. If the propaganda and rewritten history were stripped away, perhaps this “forever war” could finally end.
Both Israelis and Palestinians deserve better than endless cycles of violence sustained by lies.
