"A century ago in Nova Scotia, Mabel Bell’s garden taught environmental lessons we’re still trying to learn". Great to see @AlanaPindar's heroic project to recreate Mabel Bell's garden for #pollinator research getting attention: thestar.com/news/canada/20… @smckinley1 @TorontoStar

1/ 4 We know that our pollinators are under threat. Today, @cbuniversity’s Dr @AlanaPindar blew our minds. Below are ~120 different species of wild bees that she has collected near Baddeck (NS) just this summer. 70% of these species nest in the ground vs in hives.

And our 2022 CSEE President’s Award for Societal Engagement recipient: Dr. John Reynolds (Simon Fraser University) Over his career, Dr. Reynolds has contributed to science policy and species at risk, community science, and EDI initiatives.

I dedicated part of a lecture to Mabel Bell and her agricultural pollinator garden and journals. She was a remarkable woman! “A century ago in Nova Scotia, Mabel Bell’s garden taught environmental lessons we’re still trying to learn” thestar.com/news/canada/20…
