@ManchesterUtd81 Appreciate that…it has been a tough market. If you haven’t shifted, you haven’t been paying attention

Wild part of people knock you around @WarrenPies is they think this is easy, and no part of what is moving and lurking is simple. Especially when its geopolitical commodity related. Then you throw in a CAPEX cycle boom for Ai... well it has gotten more complex
Kudos to @JackFarley96 teasing out the details and covering all the high and low points for those who really love interviews that last over 1hr to get to all the good stuff

@moreproteinbars I need the deep on your express account this has been a really easy TRADE how are you justifying this

Just got my property tax bill today
The two big line items are schooling and we do have great local schools but I’m personal friends with the prior HS superintendent and that person is receiving 80% of the last salary in pension and they ramped up salary paid dramatically in the last two contracts to ensure they got the same or higher pension than the reasonable salary for the position
I’m actually surprised it didn’t rise more YOY

@Dcpcooks The state of IL is run by and for public employees. I'm glad the schools in the north burbs are keeping up property values but Public school spending is out of control.

@Dcpcooks Florida likes to say low property tax rates but I find no evidence of that unless you live in a swamp. They also have this annoying habit of privatizing services that charge high fees for essential services instead of calling them taxes and allowing us to federally deduct.
English

@Dcpcooks so they argue...but local property values would be ok even without that profligacy. It works for sure. But at what cost.
One other less appreciated consequence is to keep the riff raff away, which is very intentional.
English

@Dcpcooks Education industry is the biggest grift at the local level. But nobody cares as long as they get their lacrosse fields or Library that their kids are into. Education admins understand it well and exploits it to the hilt.

I know all of this trade is really hard to process.
It’s like an anvil of doubt and fear hanging over your head.
The doom is real but may not be the pain trade.
I highly suggest you seek the recent work of @WarrenPies and @PBCapit for an optimistic maybe a realistic take on the markets to help balance out the doomscrolling
English

@Dcpcooks To me, this looks like a perfectly reasonable property tax bill. I paid a lot more in NY about the same in Seattle, and higher rates in Florida.
English

It’s just so crazy
I don’t know how it’s manifested to this level.
In my friends case the wife was the super and her husband was in food manufacturing. He owned and managed the biz. He sold his biz and I have respect for his entrepreneurial, risktaking and success.
When they were retiring to an income free tax state they threw a going away party. Beverages were abundant and lips got loose.
They bragged about the plan. I don’t blame them for taking it or even orchestrating the grift free leverage but at some point it needs to be on 60 mins
I could go off on pensions and Illinois debt problems too
English

@Dcpcooks Do you know how many school districts we have in NJ? 600+. Each one has their own Superintendent and admin staff.

Subliminal midterm tweet

President Trump posted an image of the chair of the Federal Reserve falling into a dumpster.

@trader280 it’s a disgusting misuse of position and power
It’s been a bit since my friend retired but I think 375k was the final ramp
I have no idea why we are paying someone who made 1.2 over the last 4 years a 300k pension for life
