@Issherai @BenRabidoux I’m proud to say that I pay enough that my employees can save and get a mortgage, but it’s finding the local talent that’s willing to put in the work required.

@deadrocklives @BenRabidoux No TFW's, wages are forced to rise to attract workers, and more workers (and higher quality) engage For a lot of people, they'd rather not work than work and not be able to get by anyway, but if the incentives change then there's a lot more people who become eager

Overwhelmingly the case that "locals don't want to work" means "I don't want to pay a wage that attracts locals". Sorry, no business is entitled to cheap foreign labour as a subsidy. If it can't profit while paying a wage that attracts local workers, it shouldn't survive
Sarbjit Kaur@sarbjitkaur1

New program is a start but just this morning a friend was complaining he can't find workers. For his Landscaping build business in GTA. He said the locals don't wanna work and everyone else leaving. Everyone here working, not a criminal - should have a chance at PR.

@Landon29868131 @BenRabidoux I usually get 500 but most people don’t even read the ad, it’s like they auto submit their resume, hiring for drivers and I get people without licenses applying.

@BenRabidoux I went so far as to hire several university students last year, to provide them job experience, unfortunately it just wasn’t profitable. I have never paid minimum wage and I have always ensure the employees worth keeping are the highest paid in the industry.

@BenRabidoux Ben, it’s very difficult to find local talent that is willing to work consistently and provide stability to business. I’ve never hired tfw, but it’s hindered my ability to grow my business as the local talent just isn’t there.

@SteveSaretsky I own a bin company, held off on a fuel surcharge until last week when diesel hit 272.9 it’s just too much to absorb, diesel was 150 same time last year. Roll off truck costs 700 dollars to fill now, lasts a little over a day.

Developers and home builders, what are you seeing in terms of construction materials inflation? Are suppliers pushing through cost increases yet?

RE/MAX says 54% of 🇨🇦 feel “optimistic” about buying this fall. Inventories are surging, sales are falling, and tariffs still hang over the economy. That isn’t confidence. It’s desperation dressed up as optimism, buyers walking straight into the teeth of a buyer’s market.

@EndWokeness As a Canadian I couldn’t vote for this, wish I could have. I’d say it’s a well delivered message to drug dealers.

@RichardDias_CFA When do things break? What’s the rate where people don’t buy bonds because you aren’t likely to get paid back? Do you see a situation where short term rates are low and bond yield rates are high?

@Starlink That’s customer service, I only went with starlink because after 6 hours on the phone with Telus they couldn’t get my two residential addresses to link, so I removed Telus and installed Starlink.

@MichelleLA1981 I used to think like you until I started driving in their countries. Give it a try, way more traffic and less accidents. You only worry about what’s in front of you not what’s behind you.

Driving on the roads in Ontario with new immigrants is the worst. 99% don't use blinkers. Think they can park wherever they want. Including blocking a whole street because they are more important. Never driving the speed limit. Either much too slow or ways too fast. There is no in-between. Who is giving these people their drivers license?

@ronmortgageguy There needs to be a source withholding tax then I agree wages should go up. But at the end of the day if it wasn’t worth doing no one would do it.

@ronmortgageguy Ron, these gig workers are sole proprietors and many are here on temporary visas, and or if delivering food use a friend or relatives credentials to work. No income tax is being paid. I agree that these are low paying jobs but probably do better than working at McDonald’s.

Are Gig Work Jobs Just Screwing The Workers To Enrich Huge Corps? Pretty Much YES UBER, Skip, Instacart, all the rest of these Tech companies while brilliant at their operations also depend on the actual Gig Workers generally earning less than Minimum Wage Let's look 2/

I just got off a phone call with Elections Canada.. they told me verbatim and I recorded it , that it is normal practice for them to take sealed filled out Ballots to their homes before counting on monday” Had no idea it’s normal.

@CTVNews If you vote liberal and Carney wins, you better be prepared to live with the decision you made. There is no difference between Trudeau and Carney.
