@rajsinghchohan @_pauljoyce Ohh really? Is this because of Mourinho's game model? Mourinho prefers to stay in the low block and counter.

@defentremech @_pauljoyce I think Mourinho is gonna bench Trent plenty of times, he loves defensive full backs. May even use valverde there

@defentremech @_pauljoyce Yes, he made the career decision to pursue celebrity status when he had Liverpool captaincy and being in the convo for GOAT RB in the palm of his hands.Liverpool gave him all the support both psychologically and on the pitch by curating the team around his strengths & weaknesses.

Guarantees Barca’s league title for the next two years, this (if Mourinho even lasts that long). In 2026, Mourinho’s game-model cannot compete with Flick’s over a 38-game campaign.

🚨 BREAKING: José Mourinho back to Real Madrid, HERE WE GO! 💣🤍 All terms have been verbally agreed between José Mourinho and Real Madrid, waiting to sign all documents. Plan for initial two year deal, JM to travel to Madrid after Real-Bilbao game. The Special One is back.

@RealDealPodz @DonShelby__ Reports saying that club wants a coach who can join immediately, not after WC. Xabi doesn't have any WC responsibility. We should call him back, give a proper pre-season and players he wants.

@DonShelby__ I think an even better political angle would be to promise to bring back Xabi and give the coach control of the project, because it would address even more concerns. But in both cases, you may not even be able to follow through, so would be a risky line to run on.

@MeiaArmador__ Tempo can be controlled by a single player eg: Kroos or can be controlled by the overall structure of a team? Where would you place Xabi Alonso and Nagelsmann in the above chart?

Meia Armador - Mufaddal Idris Burhani
Every approach is ultimately built on balancing three core concepts: distances, mobility, and tempo. How a coach thinks about these three variables dictates everything, from strategy and tactics down to player profiling and individual coaching. What kind of distances he wants the team to play with, how much mobility he wants within the structure, and the tempo he wants the game to be played at will shape the entire identity of the team. It even reflects in the personalities of the coaches themselves, and the type of personalities they prefer in players. Every elite coach accepts certain risks in order to minimise others. An effective team-level strategy cannot exist without balancing these trade-offs. Coaches who try to maximise all three simultaneously struggle to consistently dominate at elite level. There has to be a mechanism that allows the team to control the game, whether through shorter distances, lower mobility, lower tempo, or a balance between them. As distances, mobility, and tempo all increase simultaneously, the game naturally becomes more chaotic. Players have fewer stable references while making decisions, structural compactness lowers, and the physical demands placed on the team are unreasonable across a full season, especially with European football. This explains a lot about the careers of coaches like Bielsa, Postecoglou, and Pochettino. Strategically, it becomes almost impossible to sustain a coherent in-possession model and control defensive transitions without balancing these concepts properly. On a team level everything is a trade-off between distances, mobility, and tempo.

@RealDealPodz @Loconteee I saw a hungry Mbappe in that game. Mbappe who wanted to press high. Rather than pressing he took positions where he could press effectively. 16 turnovers, 8 shot ending actions.

Our best high pressing game of the season came with Vini on the bench because, for all his effort, he doesn’t do his homework in the film room with angles. Mofo sabotaged our season. End of story. Vini is a mentally lazy defender, so his impact is not that much worse than Mbappe’s. His effort is often wasteful. And his offensive production was simply worse.
The Galacticos@RmadridElRey

Mbappé’s influence is insane. He’s not even in Barcelona, but he’s the reason Vini is not pressing 😂

Marseille waltzed through PSG’s press. Meanwhile we had our best counterpressing game in recent memory against Marseille and our coach put out a lineup specifically to emphasize that instead of letting the team pick itself. It’s only September

Was thinking about this Real Madrid manager situation in last few days. And they’ve snookered themselves. •Experienced + player-driven coach (Ancelotti) couldn’t maximise the current squad. •Young + game model-driven coach (Alonso) couldn’t •Young + player-driven coach (Arbeloa) couldn’t There’s only one choice left without making a big sale like Vini or Mbappé sold. Experienced + game model-driven coach. And they must also have elite man-management skills to get them to work off-the-ball. That is Klopp.

Isco vs Italy 2017 Incredible performance. Back to goal play, dribbling, drawing fouls, turning, nutmegging. Won so many duels bc ball stuck to his feet like glue. The Lopetegui situation with Spain was so unfortunate. Isco could’ve dominated 2018 WC.

@EBL2017 Imo Madueke is not made for high pressure games. Sometimes his decisions are awful. Trying to overcomplicate things by over dribbling.

Trajectory of Trent’s cross to Mbappe was insane. Curved inside initially, but then seemed to stopped curling when it was at risk of being intercepted. Seemed calculated. Nobody else can play that pass except maybe Kevin De Bruyne. x.com/DataStepz/stat…

There was a problem with the board, which was that they weren't aware of how this squad was imperfect & lack the basics. & That's because of *the recent success*. Should RMA have won the UCL for ex 12 Years, the board would give Xabi Alonso the keys, similarly to Mourinho. Even Mourinho took his first full season to try & fail before he won his first La Liga.

I don’t back Xabi Alonso before Real Madrid— I just apply logic to it. To quote Jürgen Klopp: “A decision that big should be made with plan B which they are not showing they got.” Ancelotti, Alonso, Arbeloa— same fate. Xabi Alonso was RIGHT manager for this team.
