this is the sad story of how i quit playing competitive trading cards right before high school growing up, i loved yugioh, and in san jose, i fell in love with a store, where there was a team thatd go to every regionals and nationals tournaments together average age was 20 and i was 13 at the time, but they were so kind to me and brought me in like a little brother as I started winning a lot of locals then we all started winning heavy… consistently placing top 16, top 8, winning entire tournaments and started gaining a lot of clout i ran a zombie rush deck and was known for having it all holo and just super young but i needed one more card to finish the last card i needed was called a pyramid turtle, which is usually a common card, but there was a champion card that made the super rare version, very hard to acquire i had 2 already, and our team captain, christian had 1 more one tournament as i was winning, in between rounds i found this other guy that had a holo pyramid turtle… no way, this was my opportunity i overtraded by a lot, but i was okay with it because i just needed this card to complete my deck. i then got 3rd that day… was a fantastic day!!! one of my favorite memories. we get back to the store, laughing, eating burgers, and im showing the squad the new card. christian comes up and tells us, his pyramid turtle was stolen somehow during the tournament… things started to click… and i realized what had happened. he accuses me of stealing it. many of the team fully believes me, I think even he wanted to believe me, but it was too late. chemistry was gone, vibes were gone and the team disbanded. everyone pivoted to competitive call of duty/street fighter after that, and i think the owner sold the store many years later. just reminiscing on childhood and some lore. also brother christian, from pro sports, i never stole your pyramid turtle, id never. miss our western burgers from carls jr. thanks for everything you did for me! you too jimmy (other captain)
