Even those of us who knew that #DunePartTwo would be a premium screen mega hit much bigger than #Dune, couldn’t expect the phenomenon it already is at the British #BoxOffice - and we are 3 weeks away from its Opening Day. Even the BFI IMAX early sessions (midnight, 9am, 12pm & 16pm, which are traditionally the slow paced in ticket sales and rarely sell out during pre-sales) for MAR 01 are close to selling out. What’s more, local exhibitors giving #Dune2 lots of love treating it like a #StarWars or major MCU release, with theatres having opened lots of slots in all formats, some of them with almost 20 screenings daily, some times even more than one showing per hour, a rarity for a SciFi, let alone an almost 3h Sci-Fi! Don’t be shocked if the opening weekend be at least twice as big as 2021 Dune.

I called the first one a masterpiece and judging from these #Dune2 reactions, like from my friend @WendyLeeSzany , I have no doubts the sequel will meet or surpass the masterpiece level. It’s past time for people in these voting orgs to put some RESPECT on Villenueve’s name!

Yep. #MadameWeb is the worst of the Sony Spider-Verse live action films. A supremely, boring, plodding and ineffectual film that manages to waste all of its acting talent (including #SydneySweeney and #IsabelaMerced ) in a futile effort to tell some supposedly heartbreaking mother/daughter or parent(s)/daughter abandonment stories. The ridiculous script is full of laughable lines, unearned story conveniences, ridiculous character decisions meant to just get you to the next plot point, characters popping up with no explanation and disappearing just as quickly, and wholly unearned moments of closure from emotional trauma that’s never really presented or explored in any meaningful way. There’s also a hint of cultural appropriation within the story which is a convo for another time. And those Spidey references were just 🫠. There’s barely any action in it and when we do see it, it doesn’t last long and is so haphazard that it loses any of its power. The action scenes ironically show the cracks in the forced chemistry of the young Spider-women (which stems from the lightweight script) instead of reinforcing it. The villain is as one dimensional and underwritten as it gets even though Tahar Rahim did all he could do with it. And this is not a performance that will decorate the halls of the #DakotaJohnson Performance Center any time soon. An underwhelming and disappointing film that wastes the actual potential it had to tell a resonant and impactful story about young women seeking sisterhood and friendship to help them navigate their respective parental abandonment trauma…with some fun superhero stuff thrown in there to empower them on their journeys. 2/5 Cowboy Hats

Here is the answer .. all 3 films broke records LEO was the 7th Biggest Thursday IMAX Opening of All Time. When I say 7th it’s including films like avatar etc. Considering it played only in 10 screens of the 26 in India, this is a force of its own. Jawan and Pathan were high in box office and played across all of IMAX screens.
