We're celebrating 30 years of "so I've got this product idea" into a designed, prototyped, tested, manufactured, and shipped device. "Thirty years ago, I left a global telecom design team as an engineer who loved to build physical electronic gadgets. We've expanded our technical capabilities as cloud networks, IoT, sensors, and now AI have pushed the complexity of physical product designs." — @design_1st CEO, Kevin Bailey @kevin_d1bailey prnewswire.com/news-releases/… #hardtech #electronicsdesign #AIoT #productdesign #industrialdesign @JoanHighet

@TimMLatimer Hardtech dev cycles are long, but they aren't fixed. If you have the right team and process dialed in, you move way faster than the industry standard.

Hardtech development cycles are so long you almost have to start a company at a time when your sector is out of favor and hope it comes together once the tech is ready to get the timing right. If your sector is hot and you’re just raising a seed, probably NGMI.

@_SAMMYARTS @AdedayoAde50679 Industrial designers do both. We design products and packaging for clients all the time. The disciplines overlap more than people think.

No. A product packaging designer don't design products. That's the work of Industrial designers, They design the look, feel and function of products👇

@tledain Good question, @tledain! We're not executing power-hungry AI algorithms on the edge; the efficiency comes from using sensor-based AI that sips power and leaves the rest of the system powered off during idle periods

@Design_1st Can Power Efficiency really be considered a benefit of Edge AI given how much power is needed to run AI algorithms in the devices rather than the cloud?

Our "golden rules" for test driving new product concepts: 1. Don’t make me wait (2 seconds is awful, 10 seconds is a lifetime) 2. Don’t make me guess (I feel frustrated) 3. Create magic moments where what I want to happen, feels satisfying and enjoyable, every time. #productdesign
