@jessegenet We’ve found another unexpected challenge: childless adults often have a hard time accepting the “free-range” nature of our kids too. 😂 For friends having three has been a huge advantage though—it’s sweet that they always have built-in adventure buddies.

These days, if you want to raise kids that are 'free range' the under-discussed challenge is finding like minded parents so your kids have friends to be 'free range' with

At camp drop off today, I proposed to several moms of middle and junior high kids that next summer, instead of paying many many thousands of dollars for camp, we just let the kids free range. Get a pool membership, let them walk to the pizza shop for lunch.

@shl Consent-based data sharing infra already exists. IVES lets mortgage lenders pull tax transcripts in near real-time with taxpayer approval, mandated by the Taxpayer First Act.
Extend that same consent model to tax software. Stop making filers re-enter data the IRS already has.

I still think in general more people need to host their own events they’d like to see in the world vs hoping other people do

@jessegenet Counterpoint: she did build something of her own, just not a startup. Yield Giving is a whole operation she designed to direct billions effectively. That's a cool business too, it just doesn't look like one.

@shl The 37% yes i see rn undersells it imo - people who’d use it most are exactly those who overpay for TurboTax or miss refunds entirely. Would love to understand what the actual constraint is from your seat. This feels like one of the highest-leverage civic tech problems out there
