Our library “pet” Browser may not have fur, or a brain for that matter, but we love him all the same and celebrate him this National Pets Month

@mnolangray Hi Nolan. Can you explain why it is common now on X for people to post screenshots, rather than links at the top of their posts? Side note: I didn't even know what community this was in until I clicked on the article.

A one-in-a-generation-tier mistake: 12,000 homes might sound like a lot, but on a giant 800 acre site, that's only 15 units per acre—half the standard threshold we expect to be allowed on housing opportunity sites.

@ApoStructura I don't think that's really true ... NYC, Chicago, Sacramento, Austin, Pittsburgh, off the top of my head ... and where it is true, like Pittsburgh, the original downtown was along the river, but then they built the modern downtown next to that, preserving the historic area.

@RussellLowery10 At this ratio each kid could have a full time teacher? Regardless, a 2 or 3:1 staff:teacher ratio is absurd.

I've never paid too much attention to CA education policy. I don't have context and I am not stating a conclusion. But LAUSD employs more staff than it has enrolled students and that ratio seems wild to me.

@MattGeorgeSAC They'd be 1-0 if they had Ellis guarding Murray over those last 7 minutes of regulation and Harden on the bench.

3 separate playoff series now where Keon Ellis barely plays. Look, I thought he should play more here too. But two different coaches & front offices in Sac didn't play him, and now the Cavs. Maybe Mike Brown & Scott Perry were right to not give him too big a role/contract.

The number of permanent jobs created by new construction is a terrible metric for whether something should be allowed. By that logic, we should never build any new housing!

@NicolasHeidorn Good though, infant mortality did decrease a good deal during that period ... but they're relatively tiny numbers, back of the napkin math suggests they're responsible for less than 10% of that shift.

@devinlavelle May just be better health care? The birth rate seems about stable from 1970 to 1990 vs rising.

@dillonliam How do you square this with indications that people actually do like what the government does itself e.g. LA Metro's 87% customer satisfaction rating? Trusting a private sector enabled by weakened regulations vs trusting the state itself to deliver services seem separate issues.

Voters: We want infrastructure faster and cheaper. Abundance Politicians: Us too. Let's strip away regulations to make it happen. Voters: No. Because you can't build infrastructure we don't trust what you'll do with weakened regulations. politico.com/news/2026/05/1…

@Patterdude I prefer "Oregon Trail Generation" ... it communicates how we were born into an analog world but converted to digital in school, making us quasi-native to both experiences.

@devinlavelle Sadly, you are probably right about the exact type of people who are writing the code. Btw when I was younger I was not a millennial. They called us Gen X. I’m a Xennial

Riddle me this: why would any company require you to give the four digit year when asking for your credit card info? Presumably a 19XX one would be expired and 21XX doesn’t exist…
