The town's worst-kept secret: Many people know that Paramount CEO David Ellison has been quietly working on a bipartisan bill to create a federal film tax incentive program. Coincidentally, while Rob Bonta was delivering his press conference today, Ellison was en route to D.C. with chief legal officer Makan Delrahim for a long-planned dinner with 13 members of the House Ways and Means Committee to discuss advancing the legislation. The dinner, I am told, is being hosted by committee chair Jason Smith as I type this.

The Sara Rodriguez story is grim, you don't want that right before early voting. But to find an example of a candidate getting scammed by his campaign this year, then winning, you have to go back... two months. inquirer.com/politics/phila…

SCOOP: Paramount has accused Netflix of launching a "scorched-earth campaign" against its Warner Bros. purchase in a letter to DOJ obtained by @politico. Paramount is claiming that Netflix is trying to "poison regulators" against the deal. My latest: politico.com/news/2026/06/0…

NEW: There was NOT a batch of L.A. mayor votes with zero votes for Pratt. But there was a "lag in an automated update" to @AP vote tallies that split the batch and updated Bass & Raman's votes about a minute before updating Pratt's. Read me @latimes: latimes.com/politics/story…

Today's press release from @CAgovernor's office on homelessness is pretty congratulatory but leaves out some, uh, context.

One of the most striking precinct-level results comes from the Palisades. The burn line along Sunset/Chautauqua also serves as a precinct boundary. Both are typically blue, but Pratt leads 61% in the fire-devastated precinct vs. 36% in the adjacent one, which was largely spared.

I think this case would be better made if the more explicitly pro-development challengers in other local races weren’t being trounced. The strength of Roy indicates a progressive challenge, but Roy’s communication on housing has been about defending tenants.

LA’s city attorney has been one of the most prominent elected officials — and especially legal officials — opposed to state housing legislation to boost density in cities, most notably SB 79. And she’s been ousted in the primary
